Minutes_Special Meeting_02/25/2010 MINUTES VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES February 25, 2010 CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL The meeting was called to order by Mayor Pat Watkins at 8:00 a.m. A roll call was taken by Village Clerk Lori McWilliams. Present were: Mayor Pat Watkins, Vice Mayor Tom Paterno, Council Member Vince Arena, Council Member Jim Humpage, and Council Member Calvin Turnquest. Also in attendance were: Village Manager Michael R. Couzzo Jr., Village Clerk Lori McWilliams 1. Council Approval of Rescheduling the March 11, 2010 Regular Council Meeting to Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. to Allow for the Election Results to be Certified Manager Couzzo noted that the certification from the Supervisor of Elections office would not be official until Monday. Council agreed to move their regularly scheduled meeting to Tuesday March 23, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. Village Clerk McWilliams noted that a discussed Local Planning Agency (LPA) meeting may be held on March 23, 2010. Manager Couzzo suggested Council moving the LPA meeting to give more time before the regular Council meeting and suggested Council possibly passing administration of the LPA to an alternate group. Manager Couzzo felt there was nothing to imperative on the regular March Council meeting. Village Clerk McWilliams noted several second readings planned for the March meeting including Code Enforcement, Health Clinic and Pension. Mayor Watkins felt the items were not time certain. Manager Couzzo stated the second reading could be heard on the newly scheduled March meeting with the remaining items scheduled for April. Mayor Watkins confirmed Councils agreement to reschedule the March 11, 2010 meeting to Tuesday March 23, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. and the Local Planning Agency (LPA) on Thursday April 8, 2010 at 5:30 for the Special Exception to be heard before the regular Council meeting at 7:00 p.m. MOTION: Council Member Humpage moved to approve the rescheduling; seconded by Council Member Arena; the motion to adjourn carried unanimously 5 -0. ANY OTHER MATTERS Vice Mayor Paterno discussed details of the LT. Governor's visit planned for Tequesta on Monday March 8, 2010. He felt an event in The Governors honor should be held and he stated Tequesta Country Club was willing to open for such event. He stated he would like to keep the event small. Council Member Humpage offered the idea of the LT. Governor's visit to the Village's Public Safety Memorial too. Manager Couzzo noted the Village did not offer parking large enough for the anticipated event and supported it to be held at Tequesta Country Club. He encouraged Council to consent to Minutes — Special Council Meeting — 2/25/10 Page 2 Vice Mayor Paterno to coordinate the invitation list and manage the event with the help of Village Clerk McWilliams. Council Member Humpage suggested each Council Member contribute discretionary funds. Mayor Watkins also noted special event monies would be needed for the upcoming bridge opening party where many would be invited. Manager Couzzo reported there was money for special events in the general government fund or money could come from the discretionary fund.
