PURPOSE:
To establish guidelines for the purchase of personalized badges.
SCOPE:
This order applies to all law enforcement officers of the Police Department.
DISCUSSION:
To maintain control of the distribution of the symbol of the agency, the Chief has instituted procedures
for authorized members to obtain personalized badges. It is the intent of the agency to allow full time members, whom
we have issued an agency badge and successfully completed their introductory period, to purchase a personalized badge.
Members may carry only issued badges and authorized personalized badges.
PROCEDURE:
I. PROCUREMENT:
A.
Any qualified member who wishes to purchase a personalized badge must submit a memorandum requesting
permission, via chain of command, to the administrative division.
B.
If authorized, members may purchase a personalized badge commensurate with their rank and/or title.
II. DISPLAY:
A.
Members will carry and display a personalized badge in a manner consistent with agency policy on issued badges.
B.may not
Members who leave the agency use their badge as a form of identification or display it in a way that
would suggest that they are a Tequesta police officer. Continued use is a crime under the provisions of F.S. 843.085.
