McCollom~~~ February 27, 2007 IN-CAR MOBILE COMPUTERS AND TECHNOLOGY .~ ~ ~ As follow-up to the presentation I provided to Council on February 8, 2007, I respectfully request approval to purchase the In-Car Mobile Computers. The cost of the laptops is $66,360.00. The Village Council has previously approved the In-Car Mobile Technology Program (Resolution #30-06/07) and funded the project. The funds ($142,180.00) are available in account #001-175-664.601; Police -Capital, Computer Equipment. I am requesting that the Council award the contract for the purchase of the laptops to Insight Public Sector, Inc. Insight Public Sector, Inc. has an excellent reputation as a Panasonic dealer and has worked with many local agencies. In addition, we will be able to leverage the pricing from an existing contract; FLORIDA CONTRACT 250-000-03-1. I want to thank you and the Council for the opportunity to present this project for your consideration. I hope you find the documentation sufficient. Q ~.~ d Whereas, the Village Council desires to deploy in-car computers and technology in their police patrol vehicles, Whereas, in-car computers will allow officers to receive calls, complete police reports, and check criminal records while remaining on patrol, Whereas, the cost to implement the Mobile In-Car Technology is $142,1h0.00, Whereas, the Village of Tequesta has budgeted funds totaling $35,601.00 in account #001-175-664.601; Police -Computer Equipment for the purchase of laptops and related technology, but requires additional funding in the amount of $106,79.00 to implement the In-Car Mobile Technology, and Whereas, approving this resolution will increase the current 2006/2007 Budget. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The amendment to the 2006/2007 General Fund #001 increasing budgeted expenditures by $106,579.00 is hereby approved and the Village Manager of the Village of Tequesta is authorized to execute the same on behalf of the Village of Tequesta.
