VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA
HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMITTEE
MEETING MINUTES
THURSDAY, JULY 31, 2008
1. Call to Order and Roll Call
The Village of Tequesta Historic Preservation Committee held a regularly scheduled
meeting at the Tequesta Village Hall, 345 Tequesta Drive, Tequesta, Florida, on
Thursday, July 31, 2008. The meeting was called to order at 10:18 by Chair Bethany
Humpage. Present were Dottie Campbell, Bethany Humpage, Lee Resnik, and Village
Clerk Lori McWilliams. Alice Klimas and Kathleen Smith were absent.
2. Approval of Agenda
MOTION: Vice-Chair Campbell moved approval of the agenda; seconded by
Committee Member Resnik; motion carried unanimously 3-0.
3. Approval of 6/5/08 Minutes
MOTION: Vice-Chair Campbell moved approval of the 6/5/08 minutes; seconded by
Committee Member Resnik; motion carried 3-08.
4. Review Long Time Resident List
The committee reviewed the list of long time residents. The committee agreed to
change Ms. to Mrs. when appropriate. Vice-Chair Campbell and Chair Humpage
advised they would cross check this list against the voter list and come back to the
committee at the next meeting with an updated list of residents. The committee agreed
that residents that once lived in Tequesta and were still active but moved out of
Tequesta proper would be contacted if their addresses were available.
5. Any Other Matters
Mrs. Resnik went through a box and found newspaper clippings from 2001-2008 and
Mrs. Campbell suggested the committee maintain a clipping file as a future project by
year, by category and by relationship. The committee discussed the previous
management placing information in resident driveways and mailboxes. Clerk
McWilliams suggested contacting Mr. Como's family for historical documents and Mrs.
Campbell suggested contacting Jan Davis (Bill Taylor's sister - Mr. Taylor is currently
the President of the Country Club) for information on Mr. Como. Mrs. Campbell
commented that Mr. Taylor served on Council during her tenure, owned Taylor Funeral
Home and served a term or two in the state legislature. She noted they lived on River
Drive in a large home next to the park with nine children; one with Down Syndrome.
Mrs. Humpage discussed an artifact display case at the Hospice Thrift Shop in Juno
Beach that Committee Member Kathleen Smith located. Mrs. Humpage obtained
measurements and the committee agreed it would not fit properly in Village Hall, as
originally thought and the shelves were not adjustable. She noted Geoff Goldsbury
suggested placing adjustable shelving in the windows next to the front door in the lobby
and place a film (that looked like etched glass) on the glass. The committee agreed to
pursue the project and noted the Manager had already approved it.
The next meeting was tentatively scheduled for August 28, 2008 at 10:00 a.m.
Adjournment The meeting was adjourned at 11:05 a.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Lori McWilliams, CMC
Village Clerk
