A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, PALM
BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE
PALM BEACH COUNTY EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES (EMS) GRANT AWARD;
CERTIFYING THAT MONIES FROM THE EMS GRANT WILL BE USED TO PURCHASE
THE EQUIPMENT SPECIFIED IN THE GRANT AWARD, WILL IMPROVE AND EXPAND
PREHOSPITAL SERVICES IN OUR COVERED AREA; WILL NOT BE USED TO
SUPPLANT EXISTING TEQUESTA FIRE-RESCUE BUDGET ALLOCATION AND MEETS
THE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE EMS COUNTY GRANT PLAN.
WHEREAS, The Village of Tequesta, Palm Beach County, Florida, does
hereby accept the terms and conditions of the Palm Beach County EMS
Grant Award and concurs with the amount of the award, activity and
expenditure plan attached and marked as Exhibit "A°.
WHEREAS, The Village of Tequesta, Palm Beach County, Florida, hereby
certifies that the monies from the EMS County Grant award will be used to
purchase the specified equipment in the grant request, will improve and
expand prehospital services in our covered area, wits not be used to supplant
existing Tequesta Fire-Rescue budget allocation and meets the goals and
objectives of the EMS County Grant Plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE
OF TEQUESTA, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. A Resolution of the Village o#Tequesta, Palm Beach County, Florida, accepting
the terms and conditions of the Palm Beach County Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
Grant award; certifying that monies from the EMS grant will be used to purchase the
equipment specified in the grant award, to improve and expand our pre-hospital service in
our coverage area; certifying that the funds will not be used to supplant existing Tequesta
Fire-Rescue budget allocation and meets the goals and objectives of the EMS County
Grant Plan. Authorizes the Village Manager to execute the applicable documents on behalf
of the Village of Tequesta.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION WAS OFFERED by Council Member Watkins, who
moved its adoption. The motion was seconded by Vice-Mayor Paterno, and upon being
put to a vote, the vote was as follows:

The Mayor thereupon declared the Resolution duly passed and adopted this 8th day of

The EMS Grant Review Committee has recommended your agency
receive two grant awards: one for $16,788.00 and the other for
$15,285.00, from the EMS Grant Award Program; please see attached
which covers the items and work schedule for your EMS Grant Award.
The EMS Grant package is being presented to the Board of County
Commissioners at their February 6, 2007 meeting. Once it is approved
by the Board, it will be forwarded to the State EMS Office for their
execution.
In the meantime, please provide us with a letter of confirmation from
your agency's administrator concurring with the amount of the award,
activity and expenditure plans, and assurance that your agency will
comply with state and county grant requirements, including reporting. If
you have not submitted a Resolution from your Governing Board,
kindly proceed to obtain same prior to making the purchase certifying
that monies from the Grant Award will:
1) Improve and expand prehospital services in that coverage area;
2) Not be used to supplant existing provider's budget allocation;
3) Meets the goals and objectives of the EMS County Grant Plan.

To purchase AutoPulse System which will improve cardiac arrest resuscitation successes.
These will be employed on the ALS transport units and will free personnel on scene to
intubate, start IV's, administer drugs, defibrillate, package, and perform other necessary
functions required by the American Heart Association protocols for cardiac arrest.

To purchase Ferno PowerFlexx cot with items listed below which will provide benefits to
.both the patients and EMS staff. The benefits to the patient include increased comfort,
increased- feeling of security from a smooth and steady lift and an increased safety margin
as the risk of dropping the patient decrease with the PowerFlexx stretcher. The benefit to
the EMS crew is the reduced chance of back injury or hernia from lifting a heavy patient.
In addition, extra crew members are not required to respond to lift a heavy patient unless
• required for patient care.
