THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA
July 20, 1°76
A Special Council Meeting of the Village of Te~uesta was
held on Tuesday, July 20, ]°76 at 7:30 P.M. in the Village
Hall. Present were Baron, Brown, Campbell, Huggins and Yoder.
Also present were Robert Harp, Village Manager, Cyrese Colbert,
Village Clerk and John C. Randolph, Village Attorney. Prayer
and Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given by Councilman
Baron.
Councilman Huggins commended Police Officers Keith Poole,
Eddie Esten and Connie Miller on the way they handled a
pursuit of a vehicle which smashed a stop sign in the Village
and the driver was charged with "reckless driving".
Mr~ Adams Weaver, Assistant to our Village Attorney,
briefed Council on the progress of the widening of Beacon
Street and the two (2) stages of law suit in condemnation.
Mr. Weaver told Council that when the work is completed
that the four people whc the Village had to go through
• condemnation procedure to receive a construction easement
on their land will probably receive sixty (60) dollars
each. There was some input from the public.
Council talked with Mr. Weaver and Mr. William B. Sydow
about the water main line crossing the intercoastal. The
Village Attorney and Village Manager read an Ordinance
,roviding for the issuance of not exceeding $3,5.40,000.
Water Revenue Certificates. Huggins asked that a clause
be put into the Ordinance that excess monies would go back ,,.~
into Capital Improvements of tha Village Water System. This ~~'
would eliminate the Village of Tequesta Water System from '~ - (~
making coney, but instead give people on the system free ~ ;~'~ ~`~ `
service for a month when there was enough in the reserve. !,~ti' ~~~'
(Huggins requested this be entered into the minutes} Brown
moved, "that this Ordinance be approved at first reading
as amended". The motion was adopted; vaith Baron op~?osing.
Brown moved, "to have a Special Council Meeting on August 3,
1976, Tuesday, 7:30 P.M, to discuss water matters (and for
second reading of this Ordinance)". The motion was adopted.
Huggins moved, "that the Council authorize Gee & Jenson to
proceed with dispatch, with whatever action is necessary
to effect the Eastern route as shown in exhibit "A" as
in the contract with Tri-Southern". The motion was adopted.
