Adjournment C7 i U From: Village Manager To: Councilman Baron MEMORANDUM Subject: Tequesta Drive Improvements Date: May 16, 1975 Pursuant to your request at Tuesday night's Workshop Meeting, we submit the following information relating to the above projects: Payments to Brockway, Owen ~ Anderson Engineers, Inc, for prior plan preparation etc,, as approved by prior Village Councils: July 30, 1971 September 13, 1971 October 29, 1971 November 30, 1971 December 29, 1971 February 29, 1972 Job No. 71-1154 $ 442.50 Job No. 71-1234 168.95 Job No. 71-1234 2,841.21 Job No. ?1-1234 77.20 Job No. 71-1234 70.60 Job No. ?1-1234 3.440,93 $ ?,041.39 Bids were taken on this project March 24, 1975, however they were not accepted. About January 1, 1974 the firm of Brockway, Owen & Anderson Engineers, Inc, changed its name to Robert E. Owen F~ Associates, Inc. follows: Payments to Robert E. Owen ~ Associates, Inc. have been as March 11, 1974 Job No. 73-1168 $ 7,778,00 For traffic study by Kimley-Horn f~ Associates, Inc. September 17, 1974 Job No, 74-1091 $ 7,481.25 This represents 35~ of fee for design plans, etc, for project approved by Village Council February 26, 1974, total plan design fee was to be $21,375. This plan was dropped. a March 31, 1975 Job No. ?5-1031 Evaluation of traffic count taken by Palm Beach County Engineering Department Subtotal Total Payments to Date -2- $ 500,00 15,759.25 $ 22,800.64 The total estimated cost of the project authorized by the Village Council April 22, 1975 was $275,000.00 with the engineer's final estimate as follows: 1. Construction contract cost including Raving curbs, drainage, signals, sod, sprinklers and dividers $ 216,555.00 2. Contingency 21,000.00 3. Engineering costs including plans, specifications, bidding and award, permits and agency approvals, presentation of schematics for approval 21,375,00 4. Administration of contracts, inspection by resident inspector 15,000.00 • Total Estimated Cost $ 273 ,930.00 Use for Budget Purposes $ 274 ,000,00 Upon completion of the final plans and specifications and approval of same by the Council, the project will be publicly advertised for bids. Upon receipt of the bids, the engineers will evaluate same and make their recommendation to the Village Council, This will determine the actual cost of item No. 1 above. The contingency amount is for use in the event some unforeseen problems might arise not provided for in any other manner. Hopefully, there will not be occasion to use any of this amount and any of the fund not used would reduce the actual total cost for the project. The Board of County Commissioners of Palm Beach County have set aside $30,000.00 for improvements to Tequesta Drive -Old Dixie Highway intersection which will reduce the Villages estimated cost to $244,000,00, Please do not hesitate to contact us if we can be of any further assistance to you in this regard. • ,,, RH: jf Robert Harp
