HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_Regular_11/12/1974r MINUTES OF THE MEETING 'OF THE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA NOVEMBER 12, 1974 The first regular Council Meeting, for the month of November, of the Village of Tequesta was held on Tuesday, November 12, 1974 at 7:3~ F.M. in the Village Hall. Present were Little, Jones, Leone, Campbell and ~'aylor. Also present was John C. Randolph, Village Attorney. Mr`. Robert Harp, Village Manager, was on vacation and was not present at the meeting. Cyrese Colbert was filling in for Mr. Harp. The meeting was opened with Prayer and Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag by Vice-Mayor Jones. The minutes of the Uctober 22, 1974 Public Hearing were approved. The minutes of the October 22,-1974 Council Meeting wereappproved as corrected. Cyrese Colbert reviewed the Water Department. Financial Statement for September, 1974. Leone moved, that the Water Depar tment Financial Statement for .the month of September, 1.974 be approved, after being seconded the motion was adopted. Robert Sattley Mayor Little introduced the guest speaker, Tequesta Mr. Robert Sattley, Tequesta Garden Apartments, Garden Apt. who asked that Mr. John Giles, Department of Human Resources Nutrition Division be invited to talk to the Council at the next meeting. Village Council then asked Mr. Harp. to send an invitation to Mr. John Giles to speak at the next Council meeting. John Robertson Mr. John Robertson of the Jupiter Tequesta Jupiter- Jaycees reviewed the plans for the Walk for Man-Kind Tequesta J.C.s' which will be held Saturday, November 23, 1974• Leone moved the walk be approved, after being seconded the motion was adopted. Mr. John Randolph, Village Attorney, gave second reading, by title only, An Ordinance of the Village of Tequesta, Florida, emending resolution No. 6-72/73 to provide for the granting of permits to allow the drilling of :.individual-home supply wells for domestic, non- irrigation purposes within the Village of Tequesta, for all properties located within the peninsula area between the North fork and the North-West fork of the Loxahatchee River. Leone moved that the second readi~.g -9- 11-12-74 - 2 of the ordinance be approved, seconded by Taylor. The vote on the motion was: Taylor - For Campbell - For Jones - For Little - For' Leone - For the second reading of the ordinance was approved and first reading of the ordinance having been approved October $, 1974 Ordinance No. 223 was therefore passed and adopted. Mr. John Randolph read in Full the proposed Ordinance to provide for granting of permits to allow the drilling of shallow irrigation wells within the Village of Tequesta for properties located within the peninsula .area between the North. fork and the North-West fork of the Loxah.atchee River. Leone moved, seconded by Taylor to approve first reading of the ordinance. Vote on the motion was: Taylor- - For Campbell - For Jones - For • Little - For Leone - For and the first reading was approved. Jones moved,"that a meeting of all governmental agencies be held to discuss further planning of Tequesta Drive". After discussion by the Council, Taylor moved to "table Jones motion until the Village has received letters from Herb Kahlert, Palm Beach County Engineer, and Ben Simpson, District Engineer for the State, on their response to the report from our engineering -firm of Kimley-Horne. After being seconded,.and voted on;,the motion made by Jones was tabled. Leone moved that the low bid of $3,544•bl be accepted from Dick McCulley ,Ford for one (1) 1975 Fora F100, one-half (~) ton pick-up truck, the moti.an was adopted. Gary Preston reviewed bids on the Tequesta Park Sports Complex, 5 Horsepower Water Pump and Water System for Sports Complex. Campbell moved that points one (1) thru four (4), on the Water System for the Sport Complex be approved, but not to have the work started until the Village hears from our Water ~~onsultant Engineer. The vote on the motion was; -10- 11-12-74. - 3 Taylor --For • Campbell - For Jones - For Little -.For Leone - For the motion was therefore approved. Cyrese Colbert read a letter of resignation from Mr. T. Elbert Clemmons, of the Recreation Committee, the Council then accepted his resign- ation with regret. Mr. Harp was asked to send a letter to the Jupiter Fire Station No. 1 and ask them to notify us when there was a fire in the Village. Council alsn asked Mr. Harp to send a letter of "Thanks" to Tir. T, Elbert Clemmons,, ..thanking Yam for serving on the Recreation Committee. Council gave Mr. Randolph the direction to continue legal action.on the pending lawsuit against the Village by Jupiter Inlet Corporation. Campbell moved that the Village Administrative office take messages for the Councilmembers, after being voted on, the motion was approved. • Leone moved the letter to Hatt Reed, about I-95 be approved, the Council then approved the motion.
