THE VILLAGE OF TF^UESTA, FLORIDA
AUGUST 13 , 1974
The Council of the Village of Tequesta held a Hearing
at 7:15 P.M., Tuesday, August 13, 1974 in the Village Hall,
357 Tequesta Drive, Tequesta, Flores a. Council members present
were: Jones, Campbell and Taylor, also present were: Robert Harp,
Village Manager and Mr. John C. Randolph, Village Attorney.
Mayor Little and Councilmember Leone had advised that they would
be out of town and not able to attend the hearing.
Vice-Mayor Jones advised that the meeting was being
held to hear comments regarding the proposed increase in 1974
millage from the Palm Beach County Tax Assessors certified
millage of $2.829 to $3.660 per $1,000.00 of assessed valuation
and to explain the reasons for the proposed increase..
The Village Manager advised the hearing had been
advertised, as required, in the August 3, 1974 issue of the Palm
Beach Post and the August 8, 1974 issue of the Beacon News and
had proof of pubications for these advertisements (attached to
minutes).
The Village Manager advised it was necessary to assess
3 mills in order to recede State Revenue Sharing Funds in excess
of $129,000. for the fiscal year 1974/75. He then reviewed
various items in the Budget which required the additional millage
if the projects are to be accomplistaed during the fiscal year.
He also pointed out that $1.9123 mills of $3.660 or 52.25, will be
necessary to pay for 1974/75 garbage and trash collection. This
amounted to $1.7652 mills (58.840 of the 1973/74 budgeted amounts
for this service.
There were rio cor,.ments from the audience.
Campbel3: moved,:•seconded. by Taylor that the 1974/75
millage rate be $3.660 per $1,000.00 taxable valuation. The vote
on the motion was: •
Campbell - For
Taylor - For
Jones - For
The motion therefore passed and the second reading of a Resolution
to this effect will be read by title only at the August 27, 1974
Council Meeting.
Campbell moved, seconded by Taylor and unanimously passed that
the Hearing be adjourned and it was at 7:28 P.M.
