OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA
A Public Hearing teas held by the Councilmen of the
Village of Tequesta at 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 23, 1973 at
the Village Hall. Councilmen present were Messrs: Russell,
Cunningham, Little, Frank and Leone. Also present were Robert
Harp, Village Manager and. Clerk and Christopher H. Cook, Village
Attorney.
Mayor Russell advised the audience that the hearing
~z~as being held to consider the application of the First National
Bank and Trust Company Jupiter/Tequesta for a special exception
to the Village Zoning Ordinance to permit the construction of an
addition on the north side of their existing bank building
located at the intersection of U.S. Highway No. 1 (State Road 5)
and Bridge Road, ~:~hich would be 39i6n in height instead of 30' as
required. by the Village Zoning Ordinance.
Mr. William Kendrick, President of the Bank explained
that the bank was in need of additional space because of the
increase in growth of all phases of activity of the bank, He
said the height of the building from the ground to the roof would
be 34~6~~ with an elevator tower an `additional 5~ high for a
• total height of 39~6~~, The proposed improvement is expected to
cost in excess of a million dollars. He showed a plot plan which
showed the proposed new addition and. existing building and 108
parking spaces. A rendering of the various elevations was also
shown as was a rendering of the interior. Mr, Kendrick said the
total square footage would be 29,742 including the old building
~~rith 20,820 square feet of net office space.
Mr. Thomas Darcy asked what grade reference was used
for elevation. Mr. Svindler asked the elevation of the first
floor above the crown of U,S. Highway No. 1. The Architect
stated he was not sure since he had not determined the elevation
of the road.. The building architect said the proposed new
building would be approximately 10~ higher than the existing
building.
The Village rianager advised that the only cor+8nunication
received in regard to the proposed special exception was from
B & M Joint Venture, the owners of the Tequesta Plaza, Inc., who
favored. the applicants request.

Cunningham moved, seconded by Leone that the special
exception be approved. The vote on the motion was:
Cunningham - For
Leone - For
Russell - For
Little - For
Frank - For
and.. was therefore approved, subject to further approval at the
Regular Council Meeting.
The hearing was adjourned at 7:27 P.M.
