HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_Special Meeting_10/19/1971MINUTES OF THE PUBLIC HEARING OF THE COUNCILMEN OF THE VILLAt~ OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA A Fublic Hearing was held by the CounciLnen of the Village of Tequesta at 7:30 F.M., Tuesday, October 19, 1971 at the Village Hall. Councilmen present were Messrs: Sylvester, Barr, Cunningham and Little. Also present was Robert Harp, Village Manager and Clerk. Mr. Sylvester turned the gavel over to Vice-Mayor Barr az~l stepped down from the Council since the hearing concerned property in which he had an interest. Mr. Barr asked the Clerk to read the notice of the hearing, which was done and the Clerk advised that notice of the hearing had been published September 30, 1971 and property owners within 5(aU feet had been advised by letter. The notice showed the hearing was to act upon the application of Ernest Dormer and Herbert Dormer requesting that the Zoning Classification of four (4) parcels of land they owned on Cypress Drive North of Tequesta Drive be changed fr~- C-2 Wholesale Cormnercial and Light Industrial to R-2, Multiple Family Dwelling District. The area was pointed out on a plat of the area. Mr. John Riley, 49 Willow Road, questioned as to the type of dwellings, if children would be pernii.tted and if rental apartment • units were planned. Mr. Sylvester said they proposed to have garden type apartments probably rental and co~ominiu~. Mr. A. L. Hutchison asked if the units would be restricted to two (2) stories and was advised they would be under the teens of the R-2 Zoning Classification. Mr. Sylvester said it would be upgrading the property and better for the Village residents nearby than possible C-2 usage. Mr. Frank Broedell showed plans of proposed 28 unit buildings, two (2) story, with the individual apartments comparable to those in Blair House West. He stated they were not too concerned about the nearness to the Railroad right-of-way and that there was aot much land remaining where desirable condbmi.nium apartments could be built. Sewage would be available frcan prior ccmnaittments with Plantreat, Inc. Mr. Donald Webster, Apartment 219, Blair House West said R-2 Zoning would be preferable to C-2 Zoning. Mr. Broedell stated-the parking,,, would be in front of the buildings. Mr. Robert Ludwig asked about landscaping plans and was told this would be properly done. Mr. Thomas Jones, 320 Tequesta Drive, questioned about the density and Mr. Sylvester said it would conform to that proposed by the Planners and would be approximately 18-21 per acre as against the existing 35-40 units per acre.. Mr. John Alders, Blair House East, asked if it was proposed to be an alI adult community and Mr. Sylvester said not particularly and families would probably be included, perhaps in individual family areas. David Fiebig, 33 Willow Road, askesd if there would be a wall or hedge between the single family dwellings and the apartments and was advised the builder would probably plant- an Australian Pine hedge. Mr. Yergan, 73 ~amelia Circle questioned whether Plantreat, Inc. could accept these proposed new units with- out expansion to the existing plant, which might have to be paid for by the taxpayers. Councilman Little had no comment on the matter and Councilman Cunningham discussed the needed and proposed road north of the area. The Hearing was advised the requested variance conforms to the Planners ideas and works in with their thinking. They desire to see the co~mnercial areas east of the Railroad, Cunningham moved, seconded by Little that the application of Ernest Dorner and Herbert Dormer for a change in Zoning Classification for the subject parcels of land from a C-2 Wholesale Conm-ercial-and Light Industrial to R-2 Multiple Family Dwelling District be approved. The vote on the motion was: Little - For the Motion Cunningham - For the Motion Barr - For the Motion and was thereby approved 3-Q. • Meeting adjourned at 8:00 P.M.
