HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_Special Meeting_08/17/1971MINUTES OF THE PUBLIC HEARING OF THI+~ COUNCILMEN OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA A Public Hearing was held by the Village Council of the Village of '.Pequesta, Florida at 7:45 P.M., Tuesday, August 17, 1971 at the Village Hall. Councilmen present were Messrs: Sylvester, Barr, Russell, Cunningham and Little. Also present were Robert Harp, Village Clerk and Christopher H. Cook,Village Attorney. Mayor Sylvester advised the Hearing that it was being held to determine the Zoning Classification for two parcels of land on the east side of Beach Road (State Raad 707) north of the northline o:f Jupiter Inlet Colony to the Ocean Towers property. Said parcels of land had been annexed to the territorial limits of the Village an July 20, 1971, by Ordinance No. 185. Thp Village Clerk advised that Notice of the Hearing had been published in the Beacon News and property owners within 500 feet of the subject site had been sent letters advising of the Hearing. • Ctmmingham moved, seconded by Russell that the subject property be coned R-3 Multiple Family (High Rise) Dwelling District under the Village Zoning Ordinance. Mr. A. L. Hutchison, represent- ing the Beach Road Property :Owners Association reminded the Council of their desire to .have Mr. DiDosta landscape the right-of way of State Road. 707 in such a way as to prevent parking. Mr. DiVosta said he would be willing to cooperate-and knew the State Depa rtment of Transportation would permit grassing of-the right-of Way but was not. certain if they would permit the planting of trees or shrubbery or construction of walls and fences. Mr. Hutchison said, his group would assist Mr. DiVosta to get State Department of Transportation approval for landscaping the area in such a manner to prevent parking and Mr. DiVosta said he would cooperate with the Association. The Clerk read a letter from Marvin Chandler, Regency Apartment 202, in opposition to High-Rise Zoning for the subject property. Mr. M.G. Holloway, Jupiter Inlet Colony, questioned the set backs of the proposed building on the site. Mr. DiV'osta said the site would increase his land area by l00 feet in width-and he was planning to construct a building 50 feet widen than the previously proposed building, thus giving more open space. Councilman Barr said it would be a lower density. -2- • Mayor Sylvester called for the vote on the motion which was as follows: Barr - For the Motion Sylvester - For the Motion Russell - For the Motion Cunningham - For the Motion Little - For the Motion The motion was unanimously approved and the subject site was therefore zoned R-3 Multiple Family (High Rise) Dwelling District.
