BOX b38 746-7474 January 14 ~ 1971 JUPITER, FLORIDA 33458 The Police Department during the month of December 1970 instit- uted. or investigated 179 complaints ranging from 59 ins trances c+f non Police related problems to two cases of Break and entering of of businesses. Police vehicles traveled a total of 815© miles using 877.5 gallons of gas a seven quarts of oil. The Police desk messege center processed 727 incoming phone calls plus normal radio dispatching and teletype service. The Tequesta Police Auxiliary worked 40~ hours plus assisting with traffic on December 19th during th® anual Christmas Parade. Fifteen Juveniles were apprehended this month clearing nine sep- arate cases of Malicious Damage and Shoplifting. All cases proccessed through proper authorities. Two arrests for traffic violations made plus one arrest by warrant i for Dog Ordinance violation. One Arrest of Homicide Suspect made, suspect turned over to West Palm Beach Police. Comparison with the report of December 19b9 $howes complaints, patrol mileage and incoming phone calls about the same. Arrests this month up irons 1 to 19 which tends t® indicate the impr®ved proceedures and better utilization of available manpower is a assent to the operat- ions of the Police Department. Attached to this report is a complete breakdown of Police Depart- ment activities for month ©f December 197©. ~~~ H M Dusenbery Chief of Police Civil Defense Report Deeember:~ 197© Staff meeting of Tequesta Civil D®fense was held at Tequesta Police Headquarters at 8:00 PM on December 28,1970. On December 10,1970, upon receipt of a quanity of radioactive material of known quality from Palm Beach Civil Defence Headquartera~, tests of operational survey equipment were made. Results of tests radioed to Palm Beach Civil Defense Headquarters in further test of communication link. The polling place will be the Yillage Hali located at 357 Tequesta Drive and the polls «ill be open from 7:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. The election ~~ill be held to elect the following ~, Yillage officers whose teams are expiring: Councilman - First Ward - Two (2) year term Councilman -Second Ward - Two (2) year tern These offices are presently held by Arthur C. Barr and Frank D. Cunningham, respectively. The teens of Mayor Robert E. Sylvester, Councilman First Ward William J. Russell and Councilman Second Ward Carl L. Long do not expire until 1972. Any person desiring to be elected to the offices must file a written notice of their candidacy with the Yillage Clerk during the last ten (10) days of February. Candidates must be over 21 years of age; a citizen of the United States, State of Florida and the Yillage of Tequesta; a registered voter of the Yillage of Tequesta and the owner of real property in the Yillage of Tequesta. Candidates for the offices must reside in the Ward in which they are seeking election. The filing fee is $12.00. The First Ward is all of the area within the corporate limits of the Yillage of Tequesta, lying west of the North Fork of the Loxahatchee River and the Second Ward is all of the area within the corporate limits lying east of the North Fork of the Loxahatchee River. All qualified electors can vote for candidates for the office of Councilman in either Ward. The Village of Tequesta has a single voter registration system with all books and records kept by the Supervisor of Registration of Palm Beach County. The territorial limits of the Yillage of Tequesta is Palm Beach County Voting Precinct Pao. 2 and ail Village of Tequesta residents presently registered in Precinct 1Vo. 2 are auto- matically registered to vote in the Village of Tequesta elections. All newly qualified Yillage of Tequesta electors need only to register with the Supervisor of Registration of Palm Beach County and they gill be eligible to vote in Village, County, State and National Elections. The Village of Tequesta office personnel are Ileputy Registrars for the Supervisor of Registration of Palm Beach County and can register any qualified elector between the hours of 9:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M., Monday through Friday. The Village office gill also be open from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, February 4, 1971 and Friday,-February 12, 1971. The voter registration books for the Village of Tequesta General Election to be held Tuesday, March 16, 1971, must close thirty (3©) days prior to the election and the final time for registration is 8:00 P.M., Friday, February 12, 1971. The following persons have been appointed as Inspectors of Election: Mary W. Elliott Charlotte P. Kadlec Charles T. Paugh Robert W. Reaney Ruth A. Schluse~neyer John W. Stead "Absentee Ballots" will be available for any elector who will be absent from Palm Beach County on the day of the election or who is physically incapable of • appearing at the polling place on Election Day.
