BOX b38 ~`w-7a7a Jun® 9,197 JUPITER, FLORIDA 33458 During the month of May 1971, the Police Department instituted or investigated 188 complaints ranging from Civil Assists to three cases of Grand Larceng. Police vehicles traveled a total of 8,805 miles using 1,016.3 gallons of gas and s ix quarts of oil . Patrol units investigated a total of sixteen accidents, ten motor vehicle with motor vehicle, three motor vehicl® with fix®d objects, one motor vehicle with a bicycle, and two non-traffic with personal injuries. The Police desk message center processed 7?b incoming phone calls plus normal Radio dispatching and teletype service for Tequesta and North County Ambulance Service. The Police Department was advised by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement that Tequesta will be provided with a F.D.I.C. terminal teletype machine. This equipment and leased telephone line • is paid for by ,the state of Florida through funds provided by the Federal Government. Equipment is scheduled for delivery and install- ation during the month of July, 1971. Radar selective surveilance and accident investigations resulted in seven arrests for traffic violations, other Police actions, one arrest for Shop Lifting and two arrests for violations of Dog ordinance. On May 29,1971, Spencer Communications delivered and installed the new bass radio sat. Installation of this equipment increases range of headquarters and also the efficiency of the Police operation. Comparision with the report of May 1970 shows Complaints up from 152 to 188, Patrol mileage up from 8,387 to 8,805, incoming phone calls down from 789 to 766. Total arrests up from 5 to 10. Two members of The Beach Road Association attended this me t- ing and inquired as to what their people should do in case of a Hurricane or man made disaster. The Director discussed and outlined the Civil Defense posture and possible actions to b® taken by citzens and Civil Defense Headquarters in ease of a emergency. Meeting closed at 9:00 PM.
