TEQUESTA, FLORIDA
A Public Hearing was held by the Councilmen of the Village of
Tequesta, Florida, at.7:30 P.M., Tuesday, February 17, 1970, at the Village
Ha11. Councilmen present were: Messrs. Sylvester, Bowden, Long and
Simmons. Also present were Robert Harp, Village Clerk and Manager and
William A. Lord, Village Attorney.
Mayor Sylvester advised that the Hearing was being held to
determine a zoning classification for Lot 12, Block D, Jupiter Manors and
for the 1/4 Section tract of land North of Ridgewood Homes owned by Florida
Realty Sales, Inc., both parcels having been annexed to the Village in
January.
The Clerk advised that Notice of the Hearing had been published
is the Beacon News and all property owners within 500 feet of the subject
properties had been advised of the Hearing by letter.
Mayor Sylvester advised that the first item for consideration
was the zoning classifiq,tion for Lot 12, Block D, Jupiter Manors. Bowden
moved, second by Long that the property be zoned R-1, Single Family
Dwelling Classification and .the zoning map be amended. The vote on the
motion was:

and the motion was therefore passed.
The next item for consideration was the determination of a zoning
classification for Florida Realty Sales, Inc. property. They bad advised
the Council that they requested R-2, Multiple Family Dwelling Classification
for the property to construct a garden-type condominium complex similar
to Tequesta Gardens. Petitions with approximately 150 names of property
owners living in the general area of the parcel of land in opposition to
R-2 zoning classification were presented to the Council, Many residents
were in attendance and voiced their objections to other than an R-1 zoning
classification. Mr. Gene Loeffler said the residents of Ridgewood did
not want R-2 and condominiums in this area.
The Village Council discussed the possible need to hire a pro-
fessional planner to study and recommend a plan of zoning classifications
for all alnds lying outside the Village limits, including areas presently
in Martin County so that future expansion of the Village limits could be
accomplished in an orderly manner. Mr. Irving Schlusemeyer, representing
Florida Realty Sales, Inc,, asked if they would be at the mercy of the
planner and would they be delayed in progressing with the development of
their land.
After considerable discussion on the matter, Sylvester moved,
second by Bowden and unanimously passed that action on determining a zoning

classification for the Florida Realty Sales, Inc. parcel of land be to ~~~~'
until a planner is retained to prepare a plan of zoning classifications
and land use for those areas lying outside the Village.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at
8:20 P.M.
