DUSENBERY CHIEF OF POLICE During the month of November, 1969, the Police Depa.rbnent insti- tuted or investigated 148 complaints ranging from assisting stalled motp- rists to one case of breaking and entering of a private dwelling. Police vehicles traveled a total of 7,078 miles using 719 gallons of gas and five quarts of oil. There were three arrests for traffic violations including the arrest of the operator of a loaded truss truck which struck the over- head• traffic light at Tequesta Drive and U. S. No. 1 and damaged same in excess of $300. Suspect was apprehended at the north county line. Operator plead guilty in Village court, Village has been paid for damage to traffic light. The Police desk message center processed ??3 incoming phone calls plus norJ~a1 radio dispatching and teletype service for Tequesta, 3uno Beach and North County First Aid Squad. On November 5 the Chief, along with the Chief of the Jupiter • Police Department, taped an interview for the radio program, Loxahatchee Reports, sponsored by the local Chamber of Co>Rmerce. On hTovember 12, a home in the Country Club Community was bur- glarized in the day light hours. Loss in excess of $5,000. in silu~tYware, T.V., and personal articles. Pa]m Beach Sheriff's Office Crime Iab and Detective Division actively assisted the Police Department in this inves- tigation. ~~/~~ Monthly meeting of the Tequesta Police Auxiliary was held on Qe~er 12 at 8:00 P,M. Eight applicants were accepted into the organi- zation. Mayor Robert Sylvester welcomed the new members and advised the group that a $100. donation has been made by an anonymous person to start the program. Chief Dusenbery made the appointment of Mr. T. J. ,Little as Fresident and Mr. Frank Carretta as Secretary-Treasurer to serve until normal elections of members to these positions can be held. Effective November 16, on-th-job training of members will begin by mem- bers riding in patrol units to a quaint them with police operations and problems. As of November 30 members have actively worked for 43 hours. The V.O.T. Program instituted by the Tequesta Country Club Pro- perty Owners Association in support of the Police Department has gone into operation, As of November 30 it is estimated active participation by 90~ of Country Club area and 40~ of the rest of the Village has been effected. BOX 638 JUPITER, FLORIDA - 33458 - Page 2 On November 16 Mr. Gene Akers was hired as a patrolman to bring the Department up to authorized strength. Mr. Akers has ten years experience in police work and related government service and should prove an asset to the Police Department. Attached to this report is a complete breakdown of police activities for the month of November, 1969. Henry M.
