• A Public Nearing was held by the Village Council of the Village
of Tequesta at 7:15 P,M., Tuesday, ha.y 2C, 1969, at the Village Mall.
Councilmen present were: Messrs. Sylvester, Bowden, Long, Cunningham
and Simmons. Also present were yobert Harp, Village Clerk and 4dilliam ~..
Lord, Village Attorney.
Mayor Sylvester advised the n-Tearing that the Hearing had been
arranged to consider and act upon the application of Thurman G. and
~Ielen H. Arline, owners of Lot 1, ~loclc ~'., riverside on the Loxahatchee,
requesting a change in zoning classification for their property from iZ-1
Single Iaamily Dwelling District to ~-2 I~~ultiple Family Dwelling Distric'c.
The Clerk advised that the hearing had been duly advertised and that all
property owners within 500 feet of the requested zoning change had been
notified of the hearing by letter.
Mrs. Iavac and Mrs. G~Tatters sho~~ed tentative plans fora two
story, twenty unit condominium building E•~hich,the ultimate purchaser,
Mr. Copeland, proposed to construct at the site. They advised the units
would be sold and not rented.
Mr. John Day, representing I~rs. Cacace, owner of Lot 2, Block ~•,
suggested that the entire block should be rezoned for rr~ultiple dwellings
and not just the subject lot since it ti~ould have a tendency to lower values
of surrounding single family residential property.
• N1r. Ellis Middleton asked questions concerning shrubbery to hide
parking area, if washer/dryer rooms would be provided, size of screened
porches and assumed it would be connected to sewer system.
The Clerk read a letter from ~~lilliarrz J. and Sophia Trimble,
owners of and residents at Lot 3, Block 16, Jupiter in the nines, Section L,
objecting to the requested zoning change on basis of possible additional
river pollution, additional traffic and noise and the fact that surrounding
properties are single family residences. A letter from I~~arl and Esther
aarsla.g, owners of and residents at Lot 3, ~~locte 15, Jupiter in the Pines,
Section B, was also read objecting to the requested zoning ctia.nge on basis
of noise, traffic hazard and loss of single family dwellirxg area peace and
quiet.
The following persons also ob~aected to the application for
generally the same reasons:

A~Ir. Day stated the requested change would be spot zoning and would
• ai"fect adjacent properties, that the entire block or not a~.; all sinould be
rezoned and that there were not natural barriers between the adjacent areas.

The Councilmen considered the traffic problem that could occur
c~ith the proposed structure.
r~ir. Thomas H. Daly stated a prior ~illa.ge Council ha,d agreed
to ~.-2 zoning for the subject lot.
After hearing all the discussion, Mayor Sylvester called for a
vote on the requested application to change the zoning classification of
dot 1, dock 4~, Riverside on the l.oaca,i1atchee, from ~-1 Bangle Family
D~~elling District to R-2 Multiple gamily Dr,re~-ling ~7istrict, The vote teas

The vote being ~, to 1 against the application, the requested
Zoning change was denied.
