DUSENBERY CHIEF OF POLICE During the month of July 1969 the Police Department instituted or investigated 131 complaints ranging from assisting motorists in trouble to two cases of reported Grand Larcany. Police vehicles traveled a total of 7515 miles using 722 gallons of gas and 16 qts of oil. 14.5 gallons of gas were used for adminis- tration travel. The Police desk messege center logged 523 incoming phone calls blus regular radio traffic and teletype service for Tequesta, Juno Beach and North County First Aid Squad. Officers Daniel Peterson and Merle Sparkman tendered their resignations from the Police Department effiactive July 15,1969 Reasons given, Peterson to take employment in private industry, Sparkman, unable to live on Police pay. Both resignations accepted. Cn July 15,1969 two persons hired to fill vacant positions in • Police Department. Mr Nicholas Carran veteran Police Officer, twelve years experience as Patrolman and Mr Floyd Hopkins as civilan Desk dispatcher. This brings Police Department up to present authorized strength. Four motor vehicle accidents serious with injuries. Two arrests of these investigations. investigated this month, one for traffic violations as a result Comparison of reports of July 1968 and July 1969 indicates complaints down from 138 to 131, Patrol mileage up from 6,394 miles to 7515 miles. Extra patrol activity indicates a possible steading effect on o.~'fence problems. Attached to this report is a complete breakdown of Police activities for month of July 1969. Tequesta Civil Defense is on a semi-alert basis because of the Hurricane Season. Bi-Weekly checks of communications with Palm Beach Civil Defense Hdgts carried out.
