REPORT FISCAL YEAR 66-67 On October 1, 1966 Tequesta Police Department Radio Station, ca,11 letters KFI 479, put in operation on a twenty-four hour a day basis. This was accomplished by adding two employees to the Police Department. In December 1966, upon request and after agreement between Tequesta Village Council and Juno Beach Town Council, the Juno Beach Police Department was added to our police radio dispatch and telephone answering net. On December 25, 1966 the SR ?0? bridge was knocked out of commission by a barge. Radio communication was established with Jupiter Inlet Beach Colony and Jupiter Island Police Departments to assist in any problems during this emergency. On January 1, 196? the Tequesta Police Department joined the Palm Beach County teletype net by i.nstal]_ing teletype machine at Police Headquarters. This was a Grand Jury recommendation to tie together law enforcement in Palm Beach County. Edward Esten k~as hired on May 1, 196? as Grade D Patrolman. This addition to Police Department enabled all police officers to have their normal vacation without additional tours of duty and without sacr~.ficing patrols and services to the residents. On May 31., 196? Officer Esten, while checking doors in Village Square Shopping Center, discovered the music store filled with smoke. Fire Department alerted and after shore period of time had blaze under control. Loss set at $50,000. to building and con- tents. In June 196? North County First Aid Squad Ambulance Service was added to our telephone answering radio dispatch net. On September 7.5, 196? waca.tions of al.l Police Department employees completed. Concensus of years activity shows our Yillage is growing in size and responsibility. Progressive and. clear thinking of Village officials has enabled the Police Department to expand its services to residents of the Village and surrounding area. ~~~ Henry.Ai.
