HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution_02-09_01/08/2009RESOLUTION NO. 2-09 A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA, APPOINTING THE SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS, OR DESIGNEE, AS A MEMBER OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA CANVASSING BOARD; REQUESTING THE SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS, OR DESIGNEE, TO CANVASS ALL ABSENTEE BALLOTS; TO CANVASS THE MUNICIPAL ELECTION; AND TO CONDUCT THE LOGIC AND ACCURACY TESTING FOR ALL ELECTION MACHINERY; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. WHEREAS, the Village Council of the Village of Tequesta, Florida, desires that the Supervisor of Elections, or designee, conduct the logic and accuracy testing for all election machinery to be used by the Village of Tequesta at the general municipal election to be held on March 10, 2009 and if necessary, any run-off election to be held on March 24, 2009, and to publish all necessary legal advertisements; and WHEREAS, the Village Council of the Village of Tequesta also desires to appoint the Supervisor of Elections, or designee, as a member of the Village of Tequesta Canvassing Board in order that such person may be the Village designee to canvass all absentee ballots on behalf of the Village and to publish the legal notices required by Chapter 102, Florida Statutes; and WHEREAS, the Village Council of the Village of Tequesta as also desires to appoint the Supervisor of Elections, or designee, as a member of the Village of Tequesta Canvassing Board in order that such person may be the Village designee to canvass the election for the Village and then certify the results to the Village of Tequesta. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA, THAT: Section 1: The Village Council of the Village of Tequesta, Florida, hereby appoints the Supervisor of Elections, or designee, as a member of the Village Canvassing Board to represent the Village at the logic and accuracy testing for all election machinery; requests and designates the Supervisor of Elections, or designee, to canvass all absentee ballots on behalf of the Village and to publish the required legal notices with regard to these two (2) actions; and requests and designates the Supervisor of Elections, or designee, to canvass the municipal election to be held on March 10, 2009, and if necessary any run-off election to be held on March 24, 2009, and to certify the results to the Village of Tequesta. Section 2: The Village Clerk of the Village of Tequesta is hereby authorized to submit a copy of this Resolution to the Supervisor of Elections, and to do all other necessary things in order to accomplish the desire of the Village Council with regard to municipal elections. Section 3: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon passage. The foregoing Resolution was offered by Vice-Mayor Turnquest who moved its adoption.
