DUSENBERY CHIEF OF POLICE The Police Department during the month of March, 1968 insti- tuted or investigated 100 complaints. Police vehicles traveled a tots 1 of 6300 miles using 649.4 ga llons of gas and 3 quarts of oil. There were no B ~ Ens or major crimes reported this month. Complaints ranged from unsecured homes or businesses to assisting other Police Agencies. Two arrests for traffic violations, plus one arrest by warrant for passing stopped school bus. All cases will be processed through Municipal Court. The Police Desk handled forty-three telephoned complaints plus normal radio dispatch service for Juno Beach Police Department. The Jupiter-Tequesta Jaycees are running teen dances at the Junior Citizens building on Seabrook Road on Friday nights. An off- • duty Tequesta Policeman is in attendance paid by the Jaycees. These dances are well organized and supervised. No problems have arisen as of this date. The deskman on duty at Police Headquarters has been a good relationship to the whole area. Ambulance dispatching and service has been greatly expedited. Assistance to other local law enforce- ment agencies has increased plus requests for same from area citizens. It is suggested that the Village Council in its coordination moves with other local governments check further into this relationship. Attached to this report is a complete breakdown of Police activities for month of March, 1968. Respectfully submitted, ~~ ~>~.~ Henry M. In today's complex society there is a particular need for understanding on the part of every citizen. that respect for la.w is vita 1 to the preservation of individua 1 liberties and a free and orderly society; and WHEREAS, the Congress of the United States, and the President by official proclamation, have designated May 1 as Iaw Day USA, it is especially fitting, therefore, that this year we should as citizens reaffirm our faith i in the rule of law and in the supremacy of government by la,w rather than by man. The theme for this eleventh annual observance of Law Day USA carries a timely message: Only a Lawful Society Can Build a Better Soceity. It reminds us only through adherence to the processes of law and represen- tative government can our community and nation achieve the goals we seek in social betterment and progress. NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROBERT E. SYLVESTER, MAYOR OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, do hereby proclaim Wednesday, May 1, 1968, as Iaw Day USA in our Village and call upon all citizens, organizations, churches, and schools to recognize this special day through appropriate programs and ceremonies. _~ s '~ i • , ,ROBERT E.
