FLORIDA - 33458 August 20, 1968 HENRY M. DUSENBERY CHIEF OF POLICE The Police Department during the month of July, 1968, insti- tuted or investigated 138 complaints. Police vehicles traveled a total of 6,394 miles using ?32.1 gallons of gas and eight quarts of oil. One case of breaking and entering of a business was found and investigated. Excellent cooperation of Palm Beach Sheriffs Office resulted in arrest and partial recovery of loss. Clearing of this case dried up a source of supply of narcotics illegally used in the North County Area. On July 9, Officer Esten apprehended two juveniles in possession of a stolen car. This car had been stolen in the Hunt Club area. Investi- gation involved a third juvenile. All subjects turned over to Martin County Sheriffs Office for prosecution. • Investigation of a reported petty larceny of ice resulted in arrest of four minors for possession of alcholic beverages. Suspects were prosecuted in Village Court. Vacation period has seventy-two homes on check list this month. Twenty-eight cases of unsecured homes or businesses were investigated. Eight minor motor vehicle accidents investigated, no injuries to any persons involved. On July 1, 1968, Merle Sparkman was hired as a patrolman to replace vacancy created by termination of Joe Gawp. Sparkman will serve six months probationary period. He has one and one half years previous police experience. Police Desk messege service for Juno Beach Police Department handled thirty-one complaints plus normal radio dispatch service. Effective July 22, a log of all incoming phone ca.11s will be kept. First week of this operation shows Police Desk processed 135 in- coming phone ca l1s . Attached to this report is a complete breakdown of police acti- vities of month of July.
