DUSENBERY CHIEF OF POLICE During the month of September Police Department instituted or investigated eighty-five complaints ranging from assisting motorists to one case of Grand larceny which proved to be unfounded. Police vehicles traveled a tots l of 5,558 miles using 529.1 gallons of gas and eleven quarts of oil. Police Officers assisted other departments in nine incidents ranging S.V,., Conservation Dept. incidents to traffic violations and felony apprehentions. Fifteen I.D. Card applications were received, processed and I.D. Cards issued. Twenty-six homes are on vacant homes check list at the pre- sent time. Upon receiving approval of Village Council two radio dis- patcher deskmen were hired effective October 1, 1966. This action will enable Police .Department desk to be manned on a 24 hour a day basis and also for Police Department to operate its own radio net. Necessary equipment has been ordered for this operation. No major crimes or B & Ens were reported or investigated this month. This is a great asset to the Yil]age but also increased Police 'Department responsibilities as arrests f@r misdea~aaors indicates. The installation of traffic light at Tegwesta Drive and U.S, No, 1 was a major factor in number of motor vehicle accidents dropping froea 34 to 17. The street 13.ghting progra~a has been a great asset to the Police lfepartment and can be reflected in the drop of breakiangs,.and enterings from 14 to 2 this past year. . Large amount of residents have taken advantage of this. Consensus of years activities shows our Village is growing and that actions of Village officials and work of Police Department is progressing side by side. Henry M. Dusenbery ---~ Chief of Police • • -2- VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FIARIDA • CIVIL DEFENSE REPORT Monthly meeting of Tequesta-Jupiter Civil Defense Groups was held at Tequesta Village Hall on September 26, 1966. Approximately thirty persons attended including entire Police Department and Councilmen Valier and Sylvester of Tequesta and Commissioner Pedersen of Jupiter. Civil Defense Director Dusenbery reported on Civil Defense activities for months of July, August and September and also on Civil Defense Directors Conference in Palm Beach held on September 1st and 2nd. State Civil Defense DirecLro r for South Florida, Mr. Buchanan, was guest speaker and spoke on responsibilities of Local Government in Civil Defense. Bill Smallwood of North County Ambulance Service and a group of volunteers from the ambulance group demonstrated their equip- ment and methods of treating and transporting injured persons. Coffee and donuts were served. Meeting adjourned at 10:30 P.M. Next meeting scheduled for October 31, 1966, at Tequesta Village Hall. /~ LJ Henry M. Dusenbery J r~ Civil Defense Director Village of Tequesta VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA CIVIL LtEFENSE • ANNUAL REPORT 1.965 - 1966 Monthly Civil Defense meetings have been held with the Jupiter Civil Defense group in the Tequesta Pillage Hall this past pear. A series of sound films on the subject of Self Help in Natural or National Disasters were shown. These were well received by persons attending. A Civil Defense Radiological Monitoring Test was conducted in May by the County Civil Defense Office. Yilla ge of Tequesta pa r- ticipated in this exercise in procedures and the use of our Radiolo- gica 1 Survey Instruments. Tequesta Civil Defense Director and Staff Member attended State Civil Defense Conference in Palm Beach on September 1st and 2nd. Information on this converence was reported to the local group at the monthly meeting. The completion of the State South Florida Civil Defense Headquarters in Johnathan Dickinson State Park has greatly helped our local group in laison on County and State level. The Village of Tequesta Civil Defense will continue to make every effort to expand its efforts to do its part in the Civil Defense • Program. Civil Defense responsibility starts at the local level and projects upward ~.~~... Municipa 1 to County to State and then Nationa 1 Government by law.
