Absentee Ballots for persons who will be out of the County or for physical reasons cannot go to the polls on Village Election ihy, Tuesday, March 21, 1967, will be available from Monday, March 6 through.Thursday, March 16, 1967. All Absentee Ballots must be returned to the Village by 5:00 P.M., Monday, March 20, 1967. 7. The qualifying period for candidates for the Election closes at 5:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 28th. 8. The Voter Registration Books close at 5:00 P.M., Friday, Msrch 10th. We will register Thursday, March 2nd from 6:45 P.M. to 7:45 P.M.,; Saturday Morning. March 4th at Chamber of Commerce Coffee. 9. O. eox sae JUPITER, FLORIDA - 33458 February 21, 1967 HENRY M. DUSENBERY CHIEF OF POLICE The Police Department during the month of January 1967 instituted or investigated 108 complaints. Police vehicles traveled a tota 1 of 5,468 miles using 472 gallons of gas and 12 quarts of oil. Four minor automobile accidents were investigated with no personal injuries. One accident involving motor vehicle and a fixed object resulted in operator being arrested for drunk driving and driving with an expired drivers license. On January 3rd upon receipt of a complaint of forgery and grand larceny by checks from First Bank of Jupiter/Tequesta, an in- vestigation was instituted resulting in apprehension and confession of a white male. Theft of blank payroll checks occured in Jupiter. Forgery in County area and actual cashing of checks in Tequesta. Suspect turned over to P.B.S.O. and is in County Jail awaiting trial. • The teletype system insta lied in Police Department has re- sulted in much improved liaison with other police agencies. Infor- ~~~ation exchanged between departments has resulted in improved la.w enforcement and awareness of possible suspect activities in State- wide area. Cooperation ~~*ith P.B.S.O. has resulted in solving the B ~ E of Hupp residence in December, conviction of a C/M juvenile and partial return of stolen articles. There were no major crimes or B ~ Ens in the Village this month other than those previously discussed in this report. Attached to this report is a complete breakdown of Police activities for month of January 1967. Respectful y submitted, \ r. 1M ~~ Henry Dusenbery Chief of Police • VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA CIVIL DEFENSE REPoRT The Tequesta officials and representatives of Jupiter Fire District and Jupiter Schools P. T. A. were guests of Tequesta, Jupiter Civil Defense Directors, H. M. Dusenbery and Dr. V. D. Stone in a guided tour of the South Florida State Headquarters for Civil Defense at Jonathan Dickinson State Park on January 30, 1967 at 8:00 P.M. A guided tour of the installation was given by South Florida Civil Defense Director J. E. Buchanan plus a short talk and a film shown on the use of schools and public buildings as shelters for fall- out protection. Palm Beach County Civil Defense was represented by Major A. L. Fullerton who gave facts and statistics showing the growth of Palm Beach County and the need for area fallout shelters. The next staff meeting of Tequesta Civil Defense Unit will be held on February 27, 1967 at 8:00 P.M, at Tequesta Village Hall. r~~~ _ H. M.
