DUSENBERY CHIEF OF POLICE During the month of June, 196? the Police Department insti- tuted or investigated 72 complaints ranging from lost dogs to minor a Iledged vanda lisrns . Police vehicles traveled a total of 5,257 miles using 551.8 gallons of gas and 9 quarts of oil. Six minor motor vehicle accidents investigated with no personal injuries. Police desk message service for Juno Beach Police Depart- ment handled seventy-four phone calls plus normal radio traffic. On 3une 2, 196? the Police Department instituted message service for North County First Aid Squad. This service has received many favorable comments from area residents as to efficiency and convenience. • The traffic Light at Tequesta Drive and U. S. No. 1 was damaged by lightning and was out of service for about a week. Repairs have been made and modifications to electronic equipment to minimize this type of damage have been made. As requested by Tequesta Country Club Community Association, new type "Children Playing" signs have been installed at Tequesta Drive and North Place entrances to Country Club area. On June 8, 1967 the Chief attended the monthly Palm Beach County Intelligence Unit meeting at the West Palm Beach Police De- partment. This is a Grand Jury recommended meeting of representatives of law enforcement agencies to exchange information between deparbnents. Twenty representatives were present. On June 22, 23 and 24, 1967 the Chief attended the Florida Police Chief's Convention held in. Winter Park. Much information was gained relative to new laws passed or being considered by the State Legislature in connection with law enforcement. Memorandum from Palm Beach Civil Defense Headquarters was read announcing appointment of Colonel Robert C. Owen to rep ]ace Col. Altman retiring County Civil Defense Director. It was recommended that the July and August Tequesta Civil Defense Staff meetings be canceled due to vacation period.
