meeting fall within the Yilla.ge Manager+s scheduled vacation period.

VILLAGE MANAGER'S ITEMS
AUGUST 21, 196?
1. Parcels A, B and C of Tequesta have been deeded to the Village by the
Tequesta Country Club Community Association, Inc. and their Attorney,
Thomas M. Mettler, has advised the deed has been filed. The leas e. has
been signed by both parties.
2. A thank you note has been received from Mrs. Robert Culpepper for the
potted plant the Village sent to Mayor Culpepper while in the hospital,
recovering from attack injuries.
3. Chief Baird of the Jupiter Fire Control District No. 1 advised the
District's 1967 millage rate would be .946 mills. The 1966 millage
rate was 1.345 mills.
4. Mr. Gordon Gray, Communications Consultant for the Palm Beach Cable
Television Company, has asked for and been granted.pernission to appear
before the Village Council at the September I9 Council meeting to request
a.n extension of time for completion of the CATV System in Tequesta.
He desires to explain the reasons for this request.
5. The Village received payment of $1,038.48 from General Road and Bridge
Fund as shown by distribution sheet given to each Councilman.
`~6. After conferring with Vice-Mayor Sylvester, permission was given to the
~~~ Florida State Road 'Department to hold a Public Hearing on Friday,
September 15 ,1.967 at 10:00 A.M. at the Village Ball on the matter of
the proposed bridge construction across the Intracoastal Waterway on
State Road 707.

7. The Village pick-up truck suffered minor damage amounting to approxi-
mately $17.00 when backed into by another vehicle on the Gallery Square
parking lot on August 9, 1967. An insurance claim has been filed with
the other parties insurance company.

CHIEF OF POLICE
The Police Department during the month of July investigated
or instituted eighty-one complaints. Police vehicles traveled 6,378
miles using 663.7 gallons of gas and 1? quarts of oil.
On July 3, 1967 a major break-in and theft at Food Fair
Store on U. S. #1 resulted in loss of a safe and contents valued at
$7,000. Prompt assistance of Palm Beach Sheriffs Office resulted
in recovery of safe and partial recovery of contents. Two C/M~s from
North Miami Beach have been arrested and charged for this crime.
The Chief attended the Palm Beach County Intelligence Meeting
held at West Palm Beach Police Headquarters on July 6th. This has
proven a valuable aid in correlating la,w enforcement on a County-wide
basis.
On July 15, Officer Walter Browns verbal resignation from
Police Department was accepted effective July 31, 1967. Ca rl R. Roderick
titian hired effective August 1, 1967 to fill this vacancy. Mr. Roderick
• is an experienced police officer, a graduate of Broward County Police
t"academy and should prove to be a valuable asset to the Police Department.
He is married and the father of two children. Salary is to be $375. per
month with 6 months probationa ry period.
July 19, 196? the Chief, upon invitation of Jupiter-Tequesta
Chamber of Commerce (Merchant Division), attended a conference at
Suni-Sands Restaurant in Jupiter. Chief Mayo of Jupiter Police Depart-
ment also attended. Conference was a round table discussion of mer-
chants problems and possible solutions to same.
There were three minor traffic accidents investigated this
month. No injuries, damage confined to motor vehicles and one bicycle.
Police desk message service for Juno Beach Police Department
handled ?5 phone calls plus normal radio dispatch service.
Vacation home check is being well received by residents.
Seventy-six homes were on check list this month.
Attached to this report is a complete breakdown of police
activities for the month.
