December I,2018
Season's greetinas!
Thanks to yourenerosity, almost 5,000 sick.injured or orphaned animals received medical
attencidn and care this year. The Sanctuary has grown by leaps and bounds since I started here in
2004.Most notably addinour Welcome Center,The Bernice Barbour Wildlife Hospital and a
Florida black bear exhibit.However. I feel an amazing sense of pride when I look at all of the
enclosures that have been upgraded over the years. In 2014,a brand-new Florida panther habitat
that freed up their previous rompingrounds to be remodeled and reourposd ati a lar_er hbc
habitat.A new expanded fox yard was added in 2016.Just last - -'
year we overhauled our Waterbirds enclosure ro give them
more space,a larger pool, and doubled the number of
rehabilitation pens for recuperatinsea birds. .i
The mission of the Bsch Wildlife Sanctuary has always been
two-fold;to provide rehabilitative care for sick, injured and F-y
orphaned native Florida wild animals and to provide '
environmental education dedicated to the protection and '"'"
conservation of our natural resources. Our comparry goal,as the caretakers of these animals,is to
do what we can to make their lives better. With each passing year,we choose upcominQ projecu
based on that agenda.2018 brouht renovations on our indoor Discovery Center, which includes
a variety of interactive displays for explorinnature,a classroom and a wet lab. With 90%of our
patients cominin due to human related injury or illness.education is the key to prevention.A
new walking trail epansion is in progress to our Wildlife Hospital that will expedite care for
incoming wild animal patients and serve as a new area for future exhibiu has been designed and
we are pulling permits. We have also begun fundraisin;for a new Crocodile and.Alliator
Habitat to be relocated ro our Cypress Swamp.Their current habitat is one of the first enclosures
built in 1997 and haseen better days.
The animals can't say thanks, but we can.We are so grateful to have supporters like you who
make it possible for us to care for helpless wildlife. We have created a sanetuary for both wildlife
and peop(e with help from individuals like you. Since the Sanctuary is not aovemment-funded
facility, 100%of our support comes from kind peop(e just like you!Thank you in advance for
helping the BuschL`ildlife Sanctuary fulfill its mission of preservinFlorida's wildlife and
natural resources.
Have a wonderful holiday season.and again,THANK YOU!
Sincerely.
Am J. iht
