HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_Special Meeting_01/10/2019 MINUTES VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA SPECIAL MEETING January 10, 2019 ATTORNEY CLIENT SESSION GMH � CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL The meeting was called to order by Mayor Abby Brennan at 5:30 p.m. A roll call was taken by Village Clerk Lori McWilliams. Present were: Mayor Abby Brennan, Vice-Mayor Tom Paterno, Council Member Vince Arena, Council Member Laurie Brandon, and Council Member Kristi Johnson. APPROVAL OFAGENDA MOTION: Council Member Arena moved approval of the agenda; seconded by Council Member Brandon; motion carried unanimously 5-0. 1. RECESS PUBLIC MEETING TO COMMENCE THE CLOSED ATTORNEY-CLIENT EXECUTIVE SESSION: The Village Council held a closed attorney/client executive session under the authority of Section 286.011(8), Florida Statutes. The closed attorney- client executive session was requested by Village Attorney Keith W. Davis to obtain advice regarding settlement negotiations and/or strategy related to litigation expenditures concerning the case of GMH Holdings, LLC, d/b/a Futures of Palm Beach v. Village of Tequesta, Case No. 18-CV-81164- DMM, currently pending and active in the United States District Court, Southern District of Florida. The following were in attendance: - Mayor Abby Brennan -Vice Mayor Tom Paterno - Council Member Vince Arena - Council Member Laurie Brandon - Council Member Kristi Johnson -Village Attorney Keith W. Davis, Esq. -Village Litigation Attorney Chris Stearns, Esq. -Acting Village Manager Jim Weinand The public meeting recessed at 5:31 p.m. Minutes — Special Meeting —Attorney Client Session 01/10/2019 Page 2 2. RECONVENE THE PUBLIC MEETING IN THE VILLAGE COUNCIL CHAMBERS UPON CONCLUSION OF THE CLOSED ATTORNEY-CLIENT EXECUTIVE SESSION: Mayor Brennan reconvened the public meeting at 5:52 p.m. MOT►ON: Council Member Arena moved approval of a settlement agreement as discussed in the case of GMH Holdings v. Village of Tequesta, and direction to proceed with the settlement and processing the related ordinance; seconded by Council Member Johnson; motion carried 4-1 with Mayor Brennan opposed.
