Water Reuse Week
WHEREAS,safe,clean and sustainable water r�sources are essential to Florida's environment,
ecunomy,ciLizens,and visitors;an�i
WHEREAS,although Florida's water supplies are fi�ute, the state's population and need for water
resources continue to ulcrease;and
WHEREAS,water reuse provides a means for conserving and aub enting Flarida's precious water
resources and is key to the state's sustainable�vater Euture;and
WHEREAS,Plorida has established the encouragement and promotion of waler reuse as state
objertives in Chapters 3?3 and 403,Florida Statutes,and
WHEREAS,Florida has risen to be the national leader in water reuse--reusing�i13 nullion gallons
of reclaimed water per day to consei��e fresh�vater supplies and replenish our rivers,streanls,lakes,
and ayuifers;and
WHEREAS,Florida's permitted reuse ca�acity is ov�r 1.6 billion gallons per da}�(a}�proximateh�71
percent of Florida's t�tal permitted capaaty tor all domestic wastewater treahnent facilit�es);aiid
WHEREAS,WatePeuse Florida,the state section of the WatePeuse Association,has proclaimed the
week of May�19-26,2019 as Florida Water Peuse Week;and
WHEREAS,the Village of Te�l uesta has joi�led with WateReuse Flai•ida,the Florida Departrnent of
Envimnmental ProtecHon,and th�South Florida�Nater Management District in encouraging and
promoting�vater reuse and consc�1�atian;and
WHEREAS,the Village of Tequesta has implemented a water reuse prograin and ei�courages
efficient and effective use of reclainied��ater;and
NOW,THEREFORG,be it resolvcd dlat bv virtue of the authuritv vested in me as Mavor of the
Villa��uf Tecluesta, hereb��supports VVatePeuse Plori�ja and proclaims Ma}�19-26,2019,as
WATER RCUSE 4VEEK
in the State of Florida. Th�Village of Teyuesta,Florida is calling upon each citizen and business to
l�elp prot�ct our precious wat�r resources Uc ��raclicing effici�nl and effective use reclaimed��ater.
