MINUTES OF ~'F~tE SPECIAL MEETIlVG OF
THE COUDICIIA'~N OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQt~STA, FLORIDA
A Special Meeting of the Councilmen of the Village of Tequesta,
Florida, was held taednesday, December 1, 1965 at 8:00 P.M. at the Village
Hall. Counci Lnen present were: Hlessrs. Valier, Bowden, Turnbull, Cornelius
and Sylvester. A1se present ~~ere Robert Harp, Village Clerk and Henry fit.
Dusenbery, Police Chief.
Mayor Valier advised that the Meeting had been called to decide
whether the Village would go into the Fire Control Tax District proposed
for this Area by the Jupiter Volunteer Fire Department. He referred the
members of Council to the copy of the letter fray Chief A. Y. Baird i~hich
each Couerci]man had received.
The Mayor advised the Councilmen that Police Chief Dusenbery had
compiled a propose l for a Village of Tequesta Fire Department (copy •f
proposal attached to these Minutes.) The Clerk reported that Chief Saird
had advised that Jupiter Inlet Colany had approved their going into the
Fire Control Tax District but a call to rJayor Shearer by Mayor Valier
revealed that Jupiter Inlet Colony had trithheid their decision pending
the Village of Tequesta~s decision on the matter. Various items in
HB 1293 were discussed. It was generally agreed that the most feasible
course at this time would be for the Village of Tequesta to go into the
proposed Fire Control Tax District. Any time the Village should wish to
provide their oan fire protection ~~ith their o~,ns department they could
withdraw from the Fire Control Tax District.
Cornelius moved, seconded by Eowden and passed that the Pillage of
Tequesta, Florida go into the Fire Control Tan: District as proposed by
the Jupiter Volunteer IH.re Department and the County Commissioners and
District 1 Commissioner E. F. Van I{easel are to be advised that the
Councilmen strongly urge that the district be called the 3upiter Tequesta
Fire Control Tax District.
Chief Dusenbery was thanked r"or his report.
The Clerk is to advise County Attorney Li Lienthal and Chief Baird
of the decision of the CounciLnen.
