Surplus Items
Attached is a request to surplus two police vehicles. These vehicles are no longer suitable for
emergency use.

SUBJECT: SURPLUS VEHICLE
DATE: MARCH 6, 2009
The Utilities Department has one (1) vehicle we would like to be considered for surplus
at the March 12, 2009 Village Council Meeting.
It is a 1994 Ford Ranger pickup truck VIN #1FTCR10AXRUC71607. This truck is 15
years old and is beginning to fall apart and is not being used.
Please place on the agenda for Council approval.
RESOLUTION NO. 9-09
A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF
TEQUESTA, FLORIDA, REQUESTING APPROVAL TO SURPLUS TWO
POLICE VEHICLES AND ONE UTILITIES VEHICLE SO THEY MAY BE
AUCTIONED AND AUTHORIZING THE VILLAGE MANAGER TO
EXECUTE THE APPLICABLE PROPOSALS ON BEHALF OF THE
VILLAGE; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE
VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1 Consideration to surplus two police vehicles attached hereto
as Exhibit "A" and incorporated by reference as a part of this Resolution is
hereby approved and the Village Manager of the Village of Tequesta is
authorized to execute the same on behalf of the Village
Section 2 This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage.

After refurbishing this vehicle in 2007 we experienced mechanical breakdowns to include front end problems heater core disentigration
several cracked ignition/spark plug coils, and a cracked intake manifold. None of these failures were directly associated with the refurbishin
At this point the vehicle was determined to be unsafe for emergency operation and the cost that would be incurced to repair the vehicle
would not be justified.
