BOX 638 .1U PITE R, FLORIDA - 33458 February 8, 1966 HENRY M. DUSENBERY CHIEF OF POLICE During the month of January the Police Department investigated sixty-three complaints. Police vehicles traveled a total of S,OSI miles using 473.4 gallons of gas and 10 quarts of oil. There were no break-ins or felonies reported during this period. Police Department assisted Martin County Sheriff's Office in investigation of suicide of Tequesta resident found near Girl Scout Camp in Martin County. New procedure in reporting unlocked doors to property owners was instituted this month. An official printed foam is left in building found unsecured by Police Officer relating to time, date and Officer's name. Seven businesses were found unsecured and re- ported this month. Three parking violations were ticketed on Route 707 near Jupiter Island Apartments. • Four applications for soliciting permits were received by this Office. Three were approved and one referred to Village Council by request of applicant. Seventy-five applications for new I.D. Cards or renewal of expiring cards were processed. Six traffic citations were issued for minor traffic violations plus one arrest for Public Intoxication and one arrest for D.W.I. All cases have been processed by Municipal Court. Four minor traffic accidents were investigated, one resulting in minor injuries to a pedestrian. The opening of new Publix Market and Royal Castle Restaurant and other stores in the Tequesta Plaza, has resulted in a large in- crease of pedestrian traffic on Tequesta Drive between Seabrook Road and the Shopping Center. It is felt by this office that pedestrians face a serious hazzard and recommend a solution to this problem be sought. The street lighting program is greatly appreciated by Police Department but recommends that Tequesta Drive from the railroad west to Short Street be surveyed for possible further improvement. • Six commercial vehicle operators were warned relating to unlettered trucks; all will comply. Attached to this report is a complete breakdown of Police activities for the month. e e VILLAGE OF TE(~ITESTA CIVIL DEFENSE REPORT A joint meeting of Tequesta and Jupiter Civil Defense Councils ~:•as held on Tuesday, January 25, 1966 at 8:00 P.M. at Tequesta Village Hall.
