HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution_17-03/04_12/11/2003v .] • • RESOLUTION NO. 17-03/04 A RESOLUTION OF THE VII.LAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, CALLING A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD TUESDAY, MARCH 9, 2004, AND IF NECESSARY THE MUNICIPAL RUN-OFF ELECTION TO BE HELD TUESDAY, MARCH 23, 2004, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING COUNCII. SEATS 1, 3 AND 5; DESIGNATING POLLING LOCATIONS, ELECTION OFFICIALS AND INSPECTORS OF ELECTION; ESTABLISHING ELECTION PROCEDURES; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Village adopted the uniform filing and election dates as preceded by the Legislature of the State of Florida House Bill 742, designating the second Tuesday in March as the uniform election date for municipal office; and designating a filing period for such office from noon on the last Tuesday in January through and not later than noon on the second Tuesday in February of the calendar year; and WHEREAS, Section 2.01 of the Village Charter provides that Councilmembers shall be elected at large to Seats 1, 3 and 5 in the even years; and WHEREAS, Section 8 of the Village Code of Ordinances provides that Council may designate by Resolution polling locations, election officials, and inspectors of election, election procedures, and other incidentals required to conduct elections in the Village; and WHEREAS, the Village Council of the Village of Tequesta desires to designate polling locations, election officials, and inspectors of election, and establishing election procedures for the General Municipal Election on March 9, 2004; and if necessary a Municipal Run-off Election on March 23, 2004. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Notice is hereby given that a General Municipal Elections is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, March 9, 2004; and if necessary, a Municipal Run-off Election on Tuesday, March 23, 2004. The polling locations will be: 1 • .] • Precincts 1072 and 1076 Tequesta Recreation Center 399 Seabrook Road Tequesta, Florida 33469 A Third Precinct is to be designated by the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Office before the March 9. 2003 Election, and will be brought before the Council at that time. The polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Section 2. In accordance with the provisions of Section 8-2 (b) Village of Tequesta Code of Ordinances, the Village Glerk shall be the Clerk of Elections and shall supervise the conduct of the General Municipal Election in accordance with the State of Florida Election Laws and the Village of Tequesta Code of Ordinances. Section In accordance with Section 8-1 (d) Village of Tequesta Code of Ordinances the designated Inspectors of Election for Precincts 1072 and 1076 for the General Municipal Election were chosen by the Village Clerk and are as follows*: PRECINCT 1072 Geoffrey Allen Goldsbury, Clerk Dorothy M. Campbell, Assistant Clerk Pauline A. Hutchinson, Inspector Veronica Mancuso; Inspector Betty Jane Nagy, Inspector Suzanne M. Smith, Inspector James Massey Sparger, Deputy PRECINCT 1076 Fausta O. Aloe Janice R. Anderson Albert C. Bruenjes Ruth Elizabeth Hough, Marjorie P. Johnson, Assistant Clerk Shamim S. Mirza, Inspector Palma L. Peseitelli; Inspector Dorothy J. Pittenger, Inspector Ellen S. Platt, Inspector Katherine M. Worth, Inspector *Subject to change at Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections' discretion. Also, another precinct will be added. New information will be brought before the Village Council prior to the March 9, 2004 election. 2 • • The Village Clerk shall authorize payment of the Inspectors of Election per the rates in effect by the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections for poll workers, inspectors, clerks, and deputies. Section 4. The Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections shall be an appointed member of the Village of Tequesta's Canvassing Board for the purpose of conducting the General Municipal Election. Section 5. The provisions of the Florida Elections Code relating to absentee ballots shall apply to the General Municipal Election, and the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections shall administer the absentee balloting. Section 6. The Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections is designated to tabulate the ballots cast at the General Municipal Election. Section 7. The Village Clerk is hereby directed to post this Resolution in the Village Administrative Offices and Tequesta Recreation Center immediately after passage, and provide a certified copy to the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections.
