RESOLUTION NO. 61-00/O1
A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE
VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, PALM BEACH COUNTY,
FLORIDA, CALLING A SPECIAL ELECTION ON
DECEMBER 4, 2001, FOR THE PURPOSE OF
SUBMITTING TO THE ELECTORATE A QUESTION
RELATING TO THE FUTURE LOCATION OF VILLAGE
HALL AND SUBMTTTING TO THE ELECTORATE A
QUESTION RELATING TO THE AMENDED VILLAGE
CHARTER; DESIGNATING POLLING LOCATIONS,
ELECTION OFFICIALS AND INSPECTORS OF
ELECTION; ESTABLISHING ELECTION PROCEDURES;
ADOPTING BALLOT TITLES AND SUMMARIES;
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Village Council of the Village of Tequesta is contemplating the
ction of a new Village Hall for the Village of Tequesta; and
WHEREAS, the Village Council is currently considering two alternate locations for
location of Village Hall, Site One being at what is known as the 357 Tequesta Drive
.el; Site Two being at a site located in Tequesta Plaza; and
• WHEREAS, in accordance with Resolution No. 60-00/O1, the Village Council has
thorized the question relating to the location of Village Hall to be submitted to the
ctorate at a Special Election on December 4, 2001; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Resolution No. 46-00/O1, the Village Council
ed an advisory Charter Review Board to review the Village of Tequesta Charter; and
WHEREAS, the proposed new Charter was passed and adopted by the Village Council
September 27, 2001, by adoption of Ordinance No. 562; and
WHEREAS, Florida Statute 166.031(1) provides that the Village shall place the
osed Ordinance No. 562 to the vote of electors at the next general election held within the
icipality or at a special election called for such purpose; and
WHEREAS, Section 8-1 of the Village Code of Ordinances provides that the Village
1 may designate by Resolution the data of election, purpose, polling locations, election
s, election procedures, and other data as required to conduct a Village election; and

WHEREAS, the Village Council has, therefore, decided to propose to the electorate at
>pecial Election to be held in the Village on December 4, 2001, ballot questions as to which
the two alternate locations for Village Hall are favored by the electorate, and as to the
proval or disapproval of Ordinance No. 562 amending the Village of Tequesta Charter.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE
GE OF TEQUESTA, FALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows:
Section 1. Notice is hereby given that a Special Election is scheduled to be held
Tuesday, December 4, 2001. The polling locations will be:
Precincts 002 and 014 Tequesta Recreation Center
399 Seabrook Road
Tequesta, Florida 33469
The polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Section 2. In accordance with the provisions of Section 8-2(b) of the Village of
;sta Code of Ordinances, the Village Clerk shall be the Clerk of Elections and shall
rise the conduct of the Special Election in accordance with the State of Florida Election
and the Village of Tequesta Code of Ordinances.
Section 3. The designated inspectors, assistant clerks, deputies and poll workers
r Precincts 002 and 014 for the December 4, 2001, special Election will be chosen by the
illage Clerk from the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections' list of qualified poll
orkers, and submitted in Resolution form to the Village Council for approval at least thirty
• ys before the election in accordance with Section 8-1(d) of the Village of Tequesta Code of
dinances. The Village Clerk shall authorize payment of the inspectors, assistant clerks,
puties and poll workers per the rates in effect for poll workers, inspectors, clerks and
puties of the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections.
Section 4. The Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections shall be an appointed
per of the Village of Tequesta's Canvassing Board for the purpose of conducting the
al Election.
Section 5. The provisions of the Florida Elections Code relating to absentee
shall apply to the Village Special Election, and the Palm Beach County Supervisor of
Zs shall administer the absentee balloting.
Section 6. The Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections is designated to
the ballots cast at the Special Election.

Section 7. The Village Council of the Village of Tequesta hereby adopts the
ng ballot titles and summaries and requests that they be placed on the ballot for the
ber 4, 2001, Special Election.

Section 8. The Village Clerk is hereby directed to post this Resolution in Village
immediately after passage and provide a certified copy to the Palm Beach County
visor of Elections on or before October 4, 2001, at 5:00 p.m.
Section 9. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage.
