HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution_60-00/01_09/27/2001• RESOLUTION NO. 60-00/Ol A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, SUBMITTING TO THE ELECTORATE A QUESTION RELATING TO THE FUTURE LOCATION OF VILLAGE HALL; PROVIDING FOR A REFERENDUM VOTE ON SUCH ISSUE AT A SPECIAL ELECTION PRIOR TO MAKING THE FINAL DECISION ON SAID LOCATION; PROVIDING FOR SUBMISSION OF THE QUESTION TO THE ELECTORS OF THE VILLAGE AT A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON DECEMBER 4, 2001; SETTING FORTH THE FORM OF THE QUESTION TO BE VOTED UPON AT THE ELECTION; PROVIDING FOR DELIVERY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS IN ORDER THAT THIS QUESTION MAY BE PLACED ON THE BALLOT; PROVIDING AN EFFECTNE DATE AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. • WHEREAS, the Village Council of the Village of Tequesta is contemplating the ction of a new Village Hall for the Village of Tequesta; and WHEREAS, the Village Council is currently considering two alternate locations for location of Village Hall, Site One being at what is known as the 357 Tequesta Drive ;el; Site Two being at a site located in Tequesta Plaza; and WHEREAS, the Village of Tequesta has engaged a consultant to advise the Village as the pros and cons of each of the sites for the location of the Village Hall; and WHEREAS, each of the proposed sites has advantages and disadvantages but, ng to the consultant, each of the sites will support the location of Village Ha11; and WHEREAS, the Village Council recognizes that there are differences of opinion on Village Council and among the residents as to the desired location of Village Hall within Village of Tequesta; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Village Council to have the opinion of the electorate the Village in regard to its desire in regard to the location of Village Hall; and WHEREAS, the Village Council has, therefore, decided to propose to the electorate a question at a special election to be held in the Village on December 4, 2001, as to of the two alternate locations are favored by the electorate. C. • NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE GE OF TEQUESTA, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows: Section 1. The Village Council of the Village of Tequesta hereby adopts the allowing ballot title and summary and requests that it be placed on the ballot for the December 4, 2001, special election: LOCA'CION OF VILLAGE HALL • In consideration of the construction of a new Village Hall to house Village Administration and Council Chambers, the Village Council is considering two alternate locations, Site One being located at the 357 Tequesta Drive Parcel; Site Two to be located at Tequesta Plaza. Please designate the location you favor. Site One -Village Hall at the 357 Tequesta Drive Parcel ^ Site Two -Village Hall at Tequesta Plaza ^ Section 2. This proposed ballot language shall be submitted to the office of ~e Supervisor of Elections, Theresa LaPore, for placement on the December 4, 2001, allot. Section 3. After the public interest has been determined by a vote of the registered ~, this matter will be scheduled for final hearing before the Village Council. Section 4.
