RESOLUTION 44-19
A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE
VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA, CALLING FOR THE
GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD TUESDAY,
MARCH 17, 2020, AND IF NECESSARY, THE MUNICIPAL
RUN-OFF ELECTION TO BE HELD TUESDAY, MARCH 31,
2020, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING COUNCIL SEATS 1,
3 AND 5 FOR TWO YEAR TERMS; REQUESTING THE PALM
BEACH COUNTY SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS CONDUCT
THE ELECTION; DESIGNATING POLLING LOCATIONS;
NAMING THE CANVASSING BOARD; ESTABLISHING
ELECTION PROCEDURES; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS,Ordinance 6-15 allows the Village to hold its election concurrently with the
Presidential Preference Primary which is March 17, 2020; and designating a filing period for
such office from Noon on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 through and not later than Noon on
Tuesday, December 17, 2019;and
WHEREAS, Section 2.01 of the Village Charter provides that Council Members shall be
elected at large to Seats 1, 3 and 5 in the even years; and
WHEREAS, the Village Council of the Village of Tequesta requests the Palm Beach
County Supervisor of Elections conduct the municipal election; and
WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 5 of the Village Code of Ordinances provides that the
Village Clerk, or designee, along with the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections, or designee,
and one Council Member (which can include the Mayor) whose position is either not scheduled to
be voted upon or who is unopposed at the election being canvassed, shall be appointed to serve as
the Canvassing Board; and
WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article V of the Village Code of Ordinances further provides
that the Village Clerk may appoint or hire as many inspectors of election, and other election
workers as deemed necessary to conduct elections in the Village;and
WHEREAS, the Village Council of the Village of Tequesta desires to designate polling
locations, and establish election procedures for the General Municipal Election on March 17,
2020; and if necessary a Municipal Run-off Election on March 31, 2020.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF
THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA,PALM BEACH COUNTY,FLORIDA,AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1.Notice is hereby given that a General Municipal Election is scheduled to be held on
Tuesday, March 17, 2020; and if necessary, a Municipal Run-off will be held on Tuesday,
March 31, 2020. The polling locations will be:
Precinct 1078,Precinct 1088,and Precinct 1094
Tequesta Recreation Center, 399 Seabrook Road
Precinct 1112, 1116, 1118, and 1120
Village Hall Chambers, 345 Tequesta Drive
The polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Section 2. In accordance with the provisions of Section 3.04 of the Village Charter, the
Village Clerk shall be the Clerk of Elections and shall supervise the conduct of the General
Municipal Election and Run-off Election in accordance with the State of Florida Election
Laws and the Village of Tequesta Code of Ordinances.
Section 3. The Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections is hereby requested to conduct
the election as set forth in the Vote Processing Equipment Use and Election Services
Agreement, effective the date signed by both parties.
Section 3. The Village Clerk shall authorize payment of the Inspectors of Election per the
rates in effect by the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections for poll workers, inspectors,
clerks,precinct advisors, and deputies.
Section 4.Pursuant to Chapter 2,Article 5 of the Village Code of Ordinances provides that the
Village Clerk, or designee, along with the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections, or
designee, and one Council Member(which can include the Mayor)whose position is either not
scheduled to be voted upon or who is unopposed at the election being canvassed, shall be
appointed to serve as the Canvassing Board.
Section 5. The provisions of the Florida Elections Code relating to absentee ballots shall
apply to the General Municipal Election and, if necessary, the Run-off Election, allowing the
Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections to canvass the absentee ballots, and attend the
Logic and Accuracy Test,for the Village of Tequesta.
Section 6. The Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections is hereby designated to tabulate
the ballots cast at the General Municipal Election March 17, 2020, and, if necessary, the Run-
off Election March 31, 2020.
Section 7. The Village Clerk is hereby directed to post this Resolution in the Village
Administrative Offices immediately after passage, and provide a certified copy to the Palm
Beach County Supervisor of Elections.
