Environmental Awareness Activities at Village Recreation Events The Village of Tequesta hosts multiple events throughout the year, seven of which take place on the first Friday of the month between October and April, from 5pm to 9pm. The Environmental Advisory Committee has proposed to utilize said Food Truck events to connect with village residents on environmental concerns. Tentative VOT Food Truck Environmental Awareness Activities DATE THEME EDUCATIONAL FOCUS PARTNER ORGANIZATION Discuss resident concerns & ask what they need to October 10/4 Meet the EAC know; Children's activities would include arts & None crafts so parents could talk & learn Healthy Lawns & Native Inform residents about pesticide & fertilizer FL Native Plant Society; November 11/1 Plants alternatives & why to use them; kids plant seeds and [Jupiter Tequesta Garden make magnets with natural fertilizer recipe Club? Lear about birdwatching & how & why we should December 12/6 Meet the Snowbirds create bird friendly yards; kids make birdseed ERM; FL Audubon Society inecones and learn about bird nests Where Does Our Water Come Inform residents about where our water comes from January 1/3 From? and what affects its quality; hands on touch tank for The River Center kids with learning activity Inform residents about recycling practices and their February 2/7 Importance of Recycling importance; remind about proper bin practices; kids SWA will have sorting games and prizes while learning about how thins get recycled Introduce residents to our native gopher tortoise and March 3/6 Growing up Wild — Turtles & educate them on its importance to better understand ERM Tortoises protected areas; kids will play games and make arts & crafts Create a hands-on experience for residents of all ages to learn about the importance of Johnson's April 4/3 Save our Seas seagrass in the Loxahatchee river and how it Loggerhead Marinelife Center directly affects sea turtles; kids will become Jr. Marine Biologists and Veterinarians by rescuing "injured sea turtles" Page 14 of 37
