The website for the Florida-Friendly Landscape (FFL) program is below if you should wish to learn more. https://ffl.ifas.ufl.edu/index.html FFL is all about using low- maintenance plants and environmentally sustainable practices. These practices are summarized as the FFL 9 Principles, which are: 1)Right Plant, Right Place 2)Water Efficiently 3)Fertilize Appropriately 4)Mulch 5)Attract Wildlife 6)Manage Yard Pests Responsibly 7)Recycle Yard Waste (Compost) 8)Reduce Stormwater Runoff 9)Protect the Waterfront FFL is actually several programs under the FFL banner. These programs are: 1)Florida Yards & Neighborhoods (FYN) Homeowner Program 2)FFL for Community Associations 3)FYN Builder & Developer Program 4)Green Industry- Best Management Practices (GI-BMP) Training & Program In addition, there are apps and resources. Check out the resource entitled “Florida-Friendly Plant Data Base” at this link: http://floridayards.org/fyplants/index.php FFL can be considered as the overall basis from which we approach education and information for best management practices for the Tequesta physical environment in most neighborhoods.
