Affirm Renewal of State of Emergency Declaration Due to COVID-19

Code of Ordinances Section 26-5, requires a local state of emergency to be affirmatively renewed
every 60 days - "A local state of emergency, when declared as provided herein, shall continue in
effect for no longer than 60 days without being affirmatively renewed, and may be terminated at any
time."
This agenda item effectively requests Council to affirm the Emergency Declaration renewal due to
COVID-19, thereby allowing the Village to receive emergency funding as necessary.

REAFFIRMED DURING JUNE 11, 2020 COUNCIL MEETING
DECLARATION OF STATE OF EMERGENCY WITHIN Please be advised that We, Mayor
Abigail Brennan, and Village Manager Jeremy Allen, declared on March 13, 2020 that a state of
emergency existed within the corporate limits of the Village of Tequesta in accordance with
Chapter 26 Article I of the Village Code of Ordinances, and Chapter 252, Florida Statutes due to
the COVID — 19 Virus. Mayor Brennan, Manager Allen and Fire Chief Trube continued the
Declaration again on March 20, 2020, March 27, 2020, April 3, 2020, April 10, 2020, April 17,
2020, April 24, 2020, May 1, 2020, May 8, 2020, May 15, 2020, May 22, 2020, May 29, 20201
and June 5, 2020.
We, the Village of Tequesta Council incoordination with the Emergency Manager, Fire Chief
James Trube, do hereby affirmatively renews, per the Village's Code Sec. 26-5 (d), the
Declaration of State of Emergency on June 11, 2020. The state of emergency continues to exist
within the corporate limits of the Village of Tequesta in accordance with Chapter 26 Article I of
the Village Code of Ordinances, and Chapter 252, Florida Statutes due to the COVID — 19
Virus.
We further declare that the various Village officers, officials and/or employees to whom we have
delegated responsibility for various assignments in order to carry out this Declaration of
Emergency are directed to exercise all emergency powers conferred under Chapter 252, Florida
Statutes as we so direct as well as any other powers that may be necessary to protect the
municipality from any and all threats to public peace and order or to the general welfare and/or
to protect all property and persons in the Village of Tequesta, as we deem necessary.
