Clerk formulates agenda and sends MEMORANDUM Village of Tequesta Clerk's Office TO: Mr. Michael R. Couzzo, Jr., Village Manager Honorable Mayor and Village Council Members FROM: Lori McWilliams, Village Clerk DATE: May 7, 2009 SUBJECT: Village Historic Preservation Committee Annual Appointments/ Reappointments When the Historic Committee was created via Resolution 22-08, the terms of the committee were established as two (2) year terms; however upon initial appointment the appointees for Council Seats 2 and 4 would serve one year in order to allow for staggered terms. Mayor Watkins, Seat 2 appointed Lee Resnik and Vice-Mayor Paterno, Seat 4 appointed Kathleen Smith. Ms. Resnik has requested reappointment to the committee and Ms. Smith has advised she is unable to return. Vice-Mayor Paterno is working on a replacement. The Historic Preservation Committee has held four meetings since its creation in 2008. Many great ideas and suggestions were discussed with the following projects in the works: • Shelving in windows at Village Hall entrance (windows going into HR and Community Development work areas). Historical memorabilia will be placed on a rotation basis for community view. Quotes are being received from local glass companies. • A comprehensive list of long time residents (25+ years of residency) and noteworthy business contacts is being compiled and a request will be sent to the recipient list asking for donations of memorabilia and audio interviews. Part 1 of list finalized and letters to be mailed within a couple weeks. • A "Memory Lane" of special events was discussed for placement on the wall leading up to the utility department (Silky the dolphin, issued bonds, train station, etc.). Mrs. Campbell has donated 504 feet of art molding for the walls which will be installed in the near future. The molding needs to be sanded, painted, cut and placed on walls. • Formulating long-range plan for pictures of Council Members in lobby or a plaque to memorialize their names and dates of service. Mrs. Campbell has donated 504 feet of art molding for the walls which will be installed in the near future. The molding needs to be sanded, painted, cut and placed on walls. As your Clerk, you know I feel strongly about maintenance and archival of historical memorabilia and artifacts. While it may appear the committee is moving slowly, the committee is actually moving along nicely due to the nature of the projects we are undertaking. 1, along with the members, thank you for your support, and we look forward to further preserving Tequesta's history.
