A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF
TEQUESTA, FLORIDA, AMENDING RESOLUTION 11-21 "THE ABBY
BRENNAN MAYOR AWARD" TO BE PRESENTED ANNUALLY TO A
RESIDENT (REMOVING EMPLOYEE) FOR THEIR DEDICATION TO
SERVICE AND POSITIVE IMPACTS MADE TO THE VILLAGE OF
TEQUESTA; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND FOR OTHER
PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, Abby Brennan has been a Village of Tequesta Council Member since
March 2011; and
WHEREAS, Abby Brennan has been the longest serving appointed Mayor in the
Village's history with eight consecutive Mayoral terms (2013-2021); and
WHEREAS, The Village of Tequesta Council wishes to honor Mayor Abby
Brennan's long time service by naming an annual award titled "The Abby Brennan Mayor
Award" after her for her dedication and commitment to the Village of Tequesta residents
and employees; and
WHEREAS, The Abby Brennan Mayor Award will be presented annually by the
sitting Mayor during the March Council meeting (with the exception of the charter award
which will be presented in April 2021) to a resident (removing employee) for their
dedication to service and positive impacts made to the Village of Tequesta; and
WHEREAS, Since the award is being named after long time Mayor Abby Brennan,
Ms. Brennan will craft the award guidelines and make the first presentation during the
April 2021 Council Meeting.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE
VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: Resolution No. 16-21 is hereby officially adopted;
Section 2: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage.

Criteria for Consideration in Making the Annual Award
The Abby Brennan Mayor Award will be presented annually to an individual resident of the
Village of Tequesta who has demonstrated dedication and service to the Village and who has
made positive impacts to and for the Village of Tequesta and/or the State of Florida. The ideal
candidate for the Award is a Tequesta resident who possesses strong moral character and who
is known to demonstrate and embody honesty and integrity in service to the community.
The following criteria will be used by the sitting Mayor to select the Tequesta resident who will
receive the Abby Brennan Mayor Award each year:
• An individual who continually volunteers his or her time, dedication, and talents to
the Village of Tequesta and its citizens; making the Village of Tequesta an excellent
place to live, work, and visit.
• An individual who has shown a willingness to work with Village of Tequesta residents,
who is enthusiastic about the Village and its citizens, and who works continually toward
the betterment of the community.
• An individual who has specifically made a positive difference to the health, safety, and
welfare of residents of Tequesta, or has generally made a positive difference to the
health, safety, and welfare of residents of the State of Florida through their service to
municipal, educational, and/or other civic, religious, or community -based
organizations.
The inaugural Abby Brennan Mayor Award will be presented by Mayor Abby Brennan at the
Regular Village Council meeting on April 8, 2021. Each year thereafter, the sitting Mayor will
present the award during the Regular Village Council meeting in March.
