Communications Suggestions: Lisa Hoyer, Amy Angelo, and Chamber Team g=-- 0 MEPOT-II&I Agenda Item #5. Ms. Angelo requested more communication with local businesses. Manager Allen asked what the vision was for that as the Village communicated via email, social media and mailers. The forum requested text messages. Vice -Mayor Stone suggested an ambassador for each plaza and Mr. Smith agreed and felt businesses needed to get together for information. Ms. Cartwright also advised that all information should be consistent across platforms. The forum reiterated the communication components derived from previous meetings of business to business, business to Council, Council to business and added business to residents. Manager Allen and Vice -Mayor Stone explained Vice -Mayor Stone was the business point person and he would send out recaps provided to him by Ms. Angelo. Ms. Listort stated the Village does a great job of providing information and businesses needed to be educated on pulling relevant information. Forum members also brought attention to engagement, noting that the forum had been communicated and members had not attended or followed through. Ms. Angelo wanted information regarding the Village hiring a Marketing Manager. Manager Allen explained, though it could be considered, municipality marketing usually focused on travel and tourism and could not highlight specific businesses. The chamber would be a better avenue for specific marketing. The US1 bridge closure will impact all businesses and the forum would like to focus on communication of shopping local due to this. Council Member Brandon suggested a Smoke Signals article highlighting the general number of local small businesses Tequesta has. She also suggested businesses post to social media and all could share the information thereby extending reach. 4. Event Suggestions: Kimberly Vanderpol, Stephen Smith, Chris Atkins and Laura Spalding Events suggested were a Taste of Tequesta, sidewalk sales, and green markets with website tabs highlighting these events. A second Shop VOT event was suggested for June 20th to July 4th timeframe to correlate with a Saturday and Sunday sidewalk sale and a possibility of creating a quarterly Shop VOT event. Ms. Listort stated a buy in from the businesses was needed and educating businesses on sharing the information on all social media platforms was crucial. An event schedule for posting on social media would provide guidance. Ms. Angelo would recap the last Shop VOT event for the forum and gather suggestions for the next event. In the long term a green market in Paradise Park was suggested, with an external company or forum member organizing the event and the Village promoting and permitting the event.
