HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_Miscellaneous_5/25/2021vy'O�OF TfQ4f'rA i T .f 1 MINUTES BUSINESS FORUM MEETING VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FL MAY 25, 2021 2:00 PM COUNCIL CHAMBERS CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL The meeting was called to order by Manager Jeremy Allen at 2:05 p.m. A roll call was taken by ClerkLori McWilliams. Present were: Manager Jeremy Allen, Council Member Molly Young, Clerk Lori McWilliams, Environmental Advisory Council Member Tom Bradford and Amy Angelo. AGENDA ITEMS 1. Come One Come All - ShopVOT and Sidewalk Sale Informational Event Environmental Advisory Committee (EAC) Member Tom Bradford provided an update on micro -transit. He wanted to gauge interest from the business community on viewing the micro -transit presentation which included information about an app and free advertising opportunities within the app. Mr. Bradford also believed Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) would pay for the duration of the micro -transit initiative during the US1 bridge construction if asked and presented to FDOT in the correct way. Mr. Bradford detailed the golf carts used but that those could not cross US1. The vendor that the EAC was interested in would be able to provide three Model T Tesla's as an option that could be used to cross US1. The Village Manager was interested in the program and review further along with possibly partnering with Jupiter, Jupiter Inlet Colony, Unincorporated Palm Beach County and Martin County. Manager Allen provided an update on what had been completed by the Village for the June SHOP VOT event including, signage, Smoke Signals articles, drop boxes, envelopes, flyers, website and social media updates. He explained the ability of the Village to print posters for businesses if they were interested in displaying signage. Clerk McWilliams explained the two locations for the drop boxes and that it would have the envelopes for the receipts, further their was an ability to submit receipts online as well. Council Member Young suggested placing the SHOP VOT on Tequesta's main page No Text highlight and Village staff said that was something would be completed. Village Staff expressed the need to have business like, follow and share the Village social media pages and posts to expand reach. Village also asked for an update on gift cards donations in the event residents asked what was included. Ms. Angelo stated it would be a $1,000 grand prize and gift card donations were in the process of being obtained. Clerk McWilliams reviewed the timeline for the SHOP VOT event and Sidewalk Sales Event that was distributed via email to all local businesses. Council Member Young inquired on how to engage more businesses as only one business has been represented. Amy Angelo suggested a survey to the businesses for feedback. Discussions took place regarding a dedicated Tequesta business association, additions to the website for businesses, staffing, and the responsibilities and abilities of a local municipality verse a chambers role.
