Regular Council STAFF MEMO Meeting: Regular Council - Jul 08 2021 Staff Contact: Matthew Hammond, Utilities Department: Utilities Director RESOLUTION 30-21, A RESOLUTION INCREASING THE FISCAL YEAR 2020-2021 STORMWATER FUND BUDGET BY INCREASING REVENUES AND EXPENDITURES IN THE AMOUNT OF $30,000.00 TO RECOGNIZE A GRANT FROM THE STATE OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES In May 2021 the Village Council approved a grant agreement with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) for a Nonpoint Source Grant, also known as a 319(h) grant, receiving $30,000 to fund the installation of approximately 550 feet of bioswale within the Village. Bioswales are a type of low impact stormwater improvement that reduces the quantity of water discharged into our sensitive local waterways as well as the reduces excess nutrients in the stormwater from sources such as over fertilization. The Agreement has now been fully executed by the Village and FDEP. As a result, a corresponding resolution is required to recognize the addition of the $30,000 in grant funding to the Fiscal Year 2021 Stormwater Enterprise Fund budget. RESOLUTION 30-21 A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA, INCREASING THE FISCAL YEAR 2020/2021 STORMWATER FUND BUDGET BY INCREASING REVENUES AND EXPENDITURES IN THE AMOUNT OF $30,000.00 TO RECOGNIZE A GRANT FROM THE STATE OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. WHEREAS, the Utilities Department applied for and was awarded a non -point source grant in the amount of $30,000 from the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection; and, WHEREAS, these grant funds will be used to install approximately 550 linear feet of bioswale, focusing on areas with direct discharges into the Loxahatchee River; and, WHEREAS, the following accounts will be increased to fund the grant: Revenues Grant Funds, 403-000-337.300, $30,000 Expenditures, Drainage Maintenance, 403-411-546.308 $30,000 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: Resolution 30-21 is hereby approved, amending the Fiscal Year 2020/2021 Stormwater Fund Budget by increasing revenues and expenditures in the amount of $30,000 to recognize a grant from the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection; Section 2: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage.
