Regular Council STAFF MEMO Meeting: Regular Council - Aug 12 2021 Staff Contact: Merlene Reid, Director, HR & Risk Department: HR Management Approval of Health, Dental and Life Insurance 2021/22 Renewals In line with our budget prediction, Florida Blue initially submitted increases of 14.5% to retain current benefits for upcoming FY2021 /22. After subsequent rounds of negotiations, the Village was able to secure a 3.8% increase across all plans (see Appendix 1). The attached cost summary is based on the number of employees at July 1, 2021, and their current tier choices (family/individual, etc.). At its final meeting on July 8, 2021, the Benefits committee agreed to recommend to Village Manager Allen, the renewal of the Village's health insurance with Florida Blue effective October 1, 2021, along with the other 2021/22 renewing benefits of dental and life insurance and the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), in accordance with Appendix 1. There was a 4% increase to the Dental premiums and no increases to the Life and the EAP premiums. When compared to surrounding municipalities, the Village continues to offer comparable benefits which allow us to remain competitive with our recruitment, selection and retention practices.
