Village of Tequesta 345 Tequesta Drive Tequesta, FL 33469 'a coup Village of Tequesta 345 Tequesta Drive, Tequesta, FL 33469 August 23rd, 2021 Office of Governor Ron DeSantis State of Florida The Capitol 400 S. Monroe St. Tallahassee, FL 32399-0001 To Whom It May Concern: 561-768-0700 www.tequesta.org DRAFT The Village of Tequesta hopes that you will consider the allocation of funds in the Fiscal Year 2022 budget for Tequesta Park. Tequesta Park is a regional park that is owned by the State of Florida, situated in Martin County and managed by the Village of Tequesta. There will be many requests in the upcoming session and we urge you consider Tequesta's park/green space as it is vital for the Village of Tequesta. Regional parks offer a number of benefits to the community: - Strengthen local economies and create job opportunities. - Parks make cities more resilient. - Encourage active lifestyles and reduce health care costs. - Increase community engagement and reduce crime - Help clean air and improve public health. - Tool used for cities to achieve equity goals For many years, Tequesta Park has been neglected by the State. The Village of Tequesta has maintained the Park with a long-term lease and over 2 million dollars in maintenance costs. The Village has developed a preliminary draft plan and cost estimate, as attached, for the State to consider in hopes to improve the park. The Village residents as well as the surrounding communities hope that the State will consider funding the improvements as proposed. We have provided letters of support from Jupiter Inlet Colony, Martin County Board of County Commissioners, and Town of Jupiter. The Village Council and residents of the Village appreciate your consideration and the continued work you do to represent the State of Florida, Palm Beach County, Martin County and the Village of Tequesta.
