Proclamation Recognizing Florida City Government Week, October 18-24, 2021 and Encouraging all
Citizens to Support the Celebration and Corresponding Activities

Florida City Government Week is held annually in October to celebrate, highlight and engage citizens
in the work of municipal government. This week is the time for municipalities to provide and foster civic
education, collaboration, volunteerism and more. The Florida League of Cities encourages all Florida
cities to celebrate what makes our city great. This is the first time the Village has participated in this
event.
The Village Clerk's Office has organized the following events for Florida City Government Week:
• Proclamation - October 14, 2021 Council Meeting
• Post quotes, testimonials and experiences from residents on what they LOVE about the Village.
These will be posted on social media, the website and via email/text messages in the VOT News
throughout Florida City Government Week.
• Field staff to send in pictures of themselves with residents and we will post.
• Historical tidbits to be posted on social media, the website and via email/text messages in the
VOT News throughout Florida City Government Week.
• Post pictures from residents of their favorite places in the Village and will post on social media,
the website and via email/text messages in the VOT News throughout Florida City Government
Week.
• "The City that Talks" Story Time with Mayor D'Ambra for children ages 3-8. "The City that
Talks" introduces children to cities and a wide sample of services we provide. Following Story
Time, the children can draw or color a picture of what they love about the Village. We will post
their art pieces on social media and our website.

A PROCLOMATION RECOGNIZING FLORIDA CITY GOVERNMENT WEEK, OCTOBER 18t" thru 24t" 2021, AND
ENCOURAGING ALL CITIZENS TO SUPPORT THE CELEBRATION AND CORRESPONDING ACTIVITIES.
WHEREAS, city government is the government closest to most citizens and the one with the most direct daily
impact upon its residents; and
WHEREAS, municipal government provides services and programs that enhance the quality of life for residents,
making their city their home; and
WHEREAS, city government is administered for and by its citizens and is dependent upon public commitment to and
understanding of its many responsibilities; and
WHEREAS, city government officials and employees share the responsibility to pass along the understanding of
public services and their benefits; and
WHEREAS, Florida City Government Week offers an important opportunity for elected officials and city staff to
spread the word to all citizens of Florida that they can shape and influence this branch of government; and
WHEREAS, the Florida League of Cities and its member cities have joined together to teach citizens about municipal
government through a variety of activities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, assembled in regular sessions, Mayor
Frank D'Ambra III does hereby proclaim October 18tn— 24tn, 2021 as:
FLORIDA CITY GOVERNMENT WEEK
In the Village of Tequesta, and in doing so, urge all citizens, city government officials and employees to participate
in events that recognize and celebrate Florida City Government.
The Village of Tequesta encourages educational partnerships between city government and schools, as well as
civic groups and other organizations.
The Village of Tequesta supports and encourages all Florida city governments to actively promote and sponsor
Florida City Government Week.
In Witness Whereof, we have set our hand and caused to be affixed the seal of the Village of Tequesta this 14th
day of October, 2021.
