TO RECOGNIZE THE RECEIPT OF CORONAVIRUS AID, RELIEF, AND ECONOMIC SECURITY
(CARES) ACT FUNDS FROM PALM BEACH COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS;
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act; P.L. 116-136), signed into law
on March 27, 2020, provided $150 billion in direct, immediate assistance to state and local governments
that incurred eligible expenditures related to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Theinitial allocation
of CARES Act funding was directed to states and to local governments with populations of at least
500,000 residents, and local governments with populations under 500,000 were eligible to access
CARES Act funds by serving as sub -grantees of direct grant recipients.
During FY2020, the Village incurred eligible expenditures totaling $132,939 under the CARES ACT
Grant Program for which the Village received reimbursement during FY2021 from Palm Beach County.
Staff is therefore recommending an amendment to the Village's FY2021 budget to reflect grant funds
received under the CARES Act and to authorize supplemental appropriations for additional
expenditures incurred by the various Village departments relating to the COVID-19 pandemic.
