Weinand, Fire Chief7—,` ` Date: July 3, 2002 Subject: Award of a contract to David'(3rooks, Inc. for the relocation of electrical service to Well #7. Attached is a proposal request from David Brooks Enterprises for the relocation of the electrical service to Well #7; service to the fountain of Village Green Park and the demolition of the existing pump control structure. As you are aware, the electrical service to Well #7 needs to be relocated on this site. Some time ago Reese, Macon and Associates completed the engineering and drawings for this Well #7 service relocation. After this site was chosen for the new Village Hall, we sent these drawings back for redesign to accommodate the new Village Hall. Our engineers and staff have reviewed these drawings and feel that this service relocation will not interfere with the placement of the Village Hall on this site and we feel that this relocation needs to be completed before the Public Safety Facility is completed. We also concluded that David Brooks Enterprises would provide us with the best price for this project since they were already mobilized and where under a construction contract with the Village that fixes his markup to only 5% on subcontractors work and 15% on self performed work. The major portion of this construction project is electrical work; David Brooks has bid this project out with several electrical contractors to secure the best price. Mr. Brooks advised me that all the electrical contractors where within $1,000.00 of each other and he feels that it was in the best interest to award it to the electrical contractor who is currently working on site. Please forward this item to July 11, 2002, Village Council agenda for their consideration.
