Weinand, Fire Chief" Date: July 3, 2002 Subject: Award of 911 PSAP and Radio Communication equipment for the Public Safety Facility to Car -Comm, Inc. Attached is a proposal request from Car -Comm, Inc. for providing the 911 answering point equipment along with the necessary radio communication equipment for the Police and Fire Departments in the new Public Safety Facility. In addition to the primary equipment, Car -Comm is providing the necessary back-up equipment in case of communication failure. They are also providing the system engineering, installation and integration of all these components for the dispatchers to operate in their communication consoles. Chief Allison, Asst. Chief Garlo, Communications Officer Gazo and myself have thoroughly reviewed this proposal and have completed the necessary reference checks on other communication center installations. We have concluded that with their past experience in building communication centers in Palm Beach County, along with their pricing discounts form the Florida Department of Transportation Contracts, they are the best vendor for this installation. The cost of this system from Car -Comm, Inc. is $115,430.75. The cost of this system was anticipated and allocated in the furniture and fixture line item, having a budget allocation of $237,670.00. As a side note a major portion of this equipment will be reimbursed by Palm Beach County, through the 911 tariff -funding source.
